We moved from Akron, Ohio in May after 35 years. Love TV. Don't forget to mention University of Akron with all the football schools.

I've made my claim, but just had to add that I just received my favorite Christmas present from my sister. It is a DVD - Ruth Lyons - First Lady of Television. WoW !!

At the expense of getting off of subject, I thought all of the Buckeyes would be interested in this, especially Cincy, Dayton and Columbus folks and maybe even miss the Ruth Lyons Christmas Fund this time of year.......

If I had one from the Midwestern Hayride I could die a happy man.....

Wow. I am so jealous. I remember Ruth Lyons very well and my grandfather loved the Midwestern Hayride. Who was the blonde that sang on both and whose husband owned a furniture store on the west side of Cincinnati?

Steubenville was home. Home of Dean Martin, DiCarlos Pizza, and great HS football. My wife and I attended Steubenville Catholic Central HS, Xavier University for me, and Our Lady of Cinti (now XU) for her. We have neen renting in TV for the last 12 years (2 months per) and that kind of satisfies our craving but we love TV. Merry Christmas to all.

Bonnie Lou - Oakum Furniture. Last I headr (less than 5 years) she was retired in Florida - not sure where. I knew that would pique your interest...

Oakum Furniture...not to be confused with Sunshine Furniture who's theme song was a rendition of The Sunny Side Of The Street inviting everyone to come buy happy furniture.

I'm actually famous. I was on the Signal Three television safety show which aired on Saturday mornings and was hosted by Lt. Art Mehring of the Cincinnati Police. I won a Driver's Education (classroom, not behind the wheel) project contest in the 10th grade and appeared on the show with eight or so kids from other schools. (Art Mehring now does traffic reports here in Atlanta). :<) Hee Hee..I haven't thought about that in years!

I'm from Kentucky, but you can look at my post and see what I love about Ohio!

I remember Ruth Lyons and the 50/50 Club. It used to be broadcast in the central OH area as well!

Bill :)

We went to Mason OH (just outside Cincinnati) back around 1991 and they had the College Football Hall of Fame at the time. It's since been torn down in 2004. We camped at Kings Island Amusement Park so our son and a family friend could spend some time in the park. There was also a golf course designed by Jack Nicholas just across the interstate from the park. After leaving there we headed to Sandusky and repeated the same at Cedar Point like we did at Kings Island. Ohio has some great amusement parks!

I took my son to King's Island when I lived in Cleveland for a year.

The roller coaster ride was called "The Beast" . We had a great time.

[QUOTE=CarolSells;594229]I love this thread! Also lived in Worthington, outside of Klumbus. Anybody remember the Pumpkin Festival in Circleville, Oh?

Lived in a little town in Pickaway County - Williamsport. We got out of school for week every year for the Pumpkin Festival. Lived most our adult years in Upper Arlington, suburb of Columbus - a great place to raise kids.
