We have ALL heard the horror stories for months. We have ALL seen the news clips, we have ALL watched the fall shows like The Good Doctor with its over dramatized, fear inducing tear jerker, “this is what happens if you get it”. ENOUGH ALREADY. Find something else to post about, or find positive news - like yes positive numbers are still increasing but fewer are hospitalized or on a ventilator or dying either due to treatment or changes in the virus itself. Vaccines will be made and soon available - that will be effective. So instead of posting the death fear - “if you get it, you die” which is also so very NOT true ... spread hope. That alone will help far more in this battle.[/QUOTE] Amen |

I was criticized on another thread for calling attention to what happens if our health system crashes or even gets any closer to such collapse. I offered a sampling to headlines from across our country where hospitals just have no more room. I noted that in Texas, the National Guard was called up to work in the morgue. I was told I was being political, as always, but assure you that Bucco is not being political. If you feel I tell a lie then tell me what it is. We have a serious problem, and nobody in our government seems to be talking about it as a problem. DPA is one way to help, as we have done over the past couple years in much easier to cope with situations, but all the warning about economic problems should we do any shut downs will be so very minor if the entire healthcare industry shuts down. |

That scenario plays out every single day across this country and around our world. The difference being that tens of thousands of these are due to heart attack, stroke, cancer, pneumonia and accidents of all kinds where, in many cases, families never have a chance to say their goodbyes. Why you chose to make this strictly about Corona virus and trying to guilt those who don't wear a mask, stay at home or cower behind closed doors is simply manipulating one's emotions. Lots of us refuse to bow to unhinged fear and paranoia and continue to live our lives to tge fullest. You should try it sometime.

I truly think people like me are so over the fear mongering and double standards that has been taking place since April and just want it to stop. So when people post things like this it omg not again. If you have a real story I am all for that. My sister has COPD got the virus and yes I was very scared for her but with the new care protocol in place she was in the hospital for three days and is doing great. They have really find ways to get people better fast and I would much rather read about that. So yes I do care very deeply for my fellow man but I don’t need to have these kind of post it doesn’t help anyone. |

Reality: The coronavirus is a fairly innocuous bug to most people with many who are infected not even realizing that they have it.
Reality: There is a small percentage of people who will experience severe complications from this virus. Most of them have serious underlying preexisting health conditions. Reality: The pros of keeping our country up and running outweigh the cons of shutting things down. Reality: Laughter, joy, socializing is a great stress reliever that improves overall health - both physically and mentally. Reality: Children (K-12), in general, do better with face to face school instruction and in person interaction with their peers. Reality: Fear, anxiety and isolation lower the quality of life and contribute to health declines - both physical and mental. Reality: I think people care about their fellow human beings we just have different ways of showing that we care. And, finally, I have only heard one side of this argument say things like "I hope you die", "I'll spit in your face" or "Get near me and I'll kill you". If you find yourself saying these kinds of things, give a long hard look as to what kind of social media you are on and what news networks you are listening to. Mainstream media is not the fair, balanced news that we grew up listening to. |

I do not understand why there are those that seem to thrive on fear and also find the need to have company in their misery. I have known several persons that have been bit by poisonous snakes, but I do not assume there there is a poisonous snake everywhere I go. Even though you can die from a snake bite, I do not know of anyone personally that has died from a snake bite. Same goes with the folks I know and witnessed that were bit by scorpions. Maybe not an accurate comparison but some of us prefer to live our lives with caution, NOT fear. What is going to happen once the vaccine is distributed? Are the naysayers going to find something new to worry about? Live life cautiously, not Fearfully.

I also want the double talk to stop, but I, whether good or bad, am a realist, and want facts and truth. You are absolutely correct, the facts and truths have bee very hard to come by for many months, and I KNOW what is happening in hospitals around our country. I KNOW the facts on our healthcare crisis, but I see no action or even words about it. Hard to read some posts or hear stories, but my preference is the truth and facts, which we do not get and never have. I do not advocate shut downs or anything, but leadership is needed to insure we know all we should know. The Vaccine is a silver lining but been hearing about it being available "shortly" for many months. Best and most reasonable dates I can get now is April/May of 2021......5 months from now. ‘Help is coming — and it’s coming soon’: Dr. Fauci outlines when COVID-19 vaccine will be available to all Americans - MarketWatch I do not like to read a post like that either, but it is closer to reality than any other information we get. |

That could be because in 2020 people were on the highway less and had fewer deaths? Nevertheless, the graph of CV deaths is RISING. That fact is of great importance to MANY people. The US will get back to normal ONLY after those CV deaths are under control. When will that happen???.......no one really knows - because many people are anti-vaxers and will resist getting the vaccine even AFTER Medical Science provides this "bridge to a normal future".
