Those who are concerned about contracting the virus will get the vaccine and go on with their lives. Those who aren't that worried will probably opt not to get the vaccine and take their chances. I have no problem with either group.

There will be others still who will refuse to get the vaccine and insist that everyone else continue to wear masks and social distance permanently - those folks can pound sand. Either take the vaccine or don't take the vaccine - but live with the consequences of YOUR choice whatever those consequences may be.

I have been talking about Australia's success for months now. I have gotten "happy talk" push back - like saying that Australia is an island and COMPLETLY different than the US. They are different all right - they have good leadership that they respect and listen to and act on. They are smart. We are the dumb ones that have caused our own tragic lack of reaction to this DEADLY situation. Sure, "shame on us". There lies the shame!!!!!

WW2 men charged Normandy "knowing" 90% would DIE. We live in FEAR of a 99% survivable flu. Shameful. Where the heck is THE GREATEST GENERATION when you need them.

America used to be "Land of the Free and Home of the Brave"
Now it is "Land of the Mask and Home of the Scared".

Scared of a 99% survivable flu.

Oh, one more thing. Early Christians knew if they met, they would be fed to LIONS. Now all churches are afraid of a 99% survivable flu. They close, they issue tickets, FREAKING TICKETS to go to Church.

My mother (who is late 90's) will NOT go see her lifelong friend who has 2 days to live (per Hospice not of Covid) because of the stories you just posted. Late 90's and afraid to Die. Probably because she can't get into church.

Personally, I've known six people who have had COVID, all in the 40s and 50s, and pretty healthy. One was bad enough that she struggled to breathe for six weeks alone in a room so she would not infect her husband and six year-old son. So your post really resonated with me.

I see a lot of people scoff at taking precautions and using the words "fear" and "freedom" to back up their positions. I don't live in fear, but I am using common sense and protection when I venture out to the store etc. I don't eat inside restaurants, but I will support them by getting a meal to go. If a store is not enforcing mask usage (hello, Wal-Mart), I walk right out.

My niece is a nurse in Maine and her hospital is filling up, after being relatively quiet. She'll be working through the holidays and it will probably be Spring before we get to see her. So it angers me to see people who downplay the situation our country is in. This is a highly contagious virus, and while someone in the Villages may not be personally affected, that can quickly change. More and more nurses and doctors are exhausted, and posting videos begging people to simply wear a mask. It's the least we can do until the vaccines are widely distributed. Hang in there, everyone.
Great post. Kudos!

You may not feel comfortable with what the experts are actually telling us to do (remain open, working, sending kids to school) and you have the freedom to disregard them if that is what you choose to do. No one is going to bash you for it, either. Personal responsibility is underrated these days.
Not true! The Medical experts are telling you to stay home as much as possible. Children may be able to safely go to school. It is worth the risk. Adults should NOT BE CONGREGATING INDOORS in bars, restaurants, churches. If you are NOT an essential worker, then be patriotic and get some empathy and stay HOME.

Wow. Did not see that coming from the title until too late. Can't 'un-see' it. As someone who has lived with PTSD for MANY years, reading this promptly triggered an anxiety attack, so thanks for that. Believe me, I'm already anxious enough with high risk factors, I've been holed up in my house since March and I take every precaution when I HAVE to go out. A lot of forums require the words "Trigger Warning" in the titles so people can choose to avoid reading such upsetting material. Too bad TOTV does not - that would be nice. I'm supposed to avoid stress as much as possible, sure not easy to do in these scary times.

Perspective.

Here is the story: You get a fever, and it's a little hard to breathe, but not that bad. Take some tylenol and go to bed. You wake up in the middle of the night to find yourself gasping for air. You reach over to your wife and get her attention. She rolls over, “What's wrong honey? It's the middle of the night
.
.

Please... show compassion. Odds are you know somebody that endured something like this. We're in a war right now, and we're losing. It's time to step up and make sure these kids keep their parents.

Covid 19 is a serious problem, but to say no one is taking it seriously is inaccurate. When the shortages in ventilators, mask and hospital beds arose, government mobilized industry to convert their production lines to produce the needed items and those shortages were corrected. Government mobilized the military to build the needed facilities and hospital beds. A mercy ship was sent to NYC to help but was not needed. Operation Warp Speed was initiated to fast track development of a vaccine and in record time we now have two 95% effective vaccines that will be distributed beginning December 13 in the US . By early next year the entire population of the US will have access to the vaccine. When 60 to 70 percent are vaccinated herd immunity will occur and the virus will die out. So continue to be cautious, social distance and wear a mask until you are vaccinated.

The WHO and the Supreme Court disagree with you.

Telling restaurants that they can only partially reopen for delivery only, for instance, has caused the needless failing of once thriving restaurants all over the country. Those failures have robbed people of their life savings and plunged them into despair and poverty which is NOT healthy. Yet, in spite of this Coronavirus is still going around.

I must respectfully disagree that your solution is at all patriotic. People know how to assess their own risks, and trust me, if they were afraid of dying from eating out at restaurants, shopping at the stores, going to their health clubs or visiting their family members you would not need to be scolding them into staying at home. It's important to keep our children educated, our communities running while enjoying a decent quality of life.

I am one of those who follows the guide line as I am driving down the middle of the road.
I truly think people like me are so over the fear mongering and double standards that has been taking place since April and just want it to stop. So when people post things like this it omg not again.
If you have a real story I am all for that.
My sister has COPD got the virus and yes I was very scared for her but with the new care protocol in place she was in the hospital for three days and is doing great. They have really find ways to get people better fast and I would much rather read about that.
So yes I do care very deeply for my fellow man but I don’t need to have these kind of post it doesn’t help anyone.
that comes into question: not so sure anything off FB is 'true'. it's the last place i'd go for serious information. nothing personal, of course

That doesn't make these things true. It does, however, make people who will insist that up is down and offer a website to prove it just because THEY want up to be down, gullible and lacking intuitiveness.

When will that happen???.......no one really knows - because many people are anti-vaxers and will resist getting the vaccine even AFTER Medical Science provides this "bridge to a normal future".
You’re right, there were fewer traffic deaths in 2020 “The number of people who have died in motor vehicle traffic crashes was down from 16,988 in 2019 to 16,650 in 2020, a decrease of 2 percent.”
That’s roughly 350 people. That certainly doesn’t offset 265,000. Yet the death rate in the US has increased by the lowest percentage in the last five years.
Care to try again?

Only thing making me sick is all of these chicken littles running around. This is a dry run to see how much they can control us, and get us to turn in our neighbors for not following mandates.
