I was outside jumping rope. I was home from school with the mumps. I went into the house and found my mother crying. She was watching the news on tv.

I was a college freshman and had just come out of class. As my friend and I were walking, someone came up and said "The President has been shot!" We both thought they were talking about the college president.

It was such a sad, unbelievable and frightening event.
