and witness some of the best golf ever televised.
Hooray for Phil Mickelson the kind of character, charisma and ability some of us have been accustomed to from the real greats in golf.....past, present and future. btk |

If you didn't enjoy the MASTERS today then you should call for a Doctors' appt. first thing in the morning...........Phil the Thrill was at his very best and Freddie was right behind.........Tiger Heffner just didn't have it today although you would think he was 10 strokes ahead to hear the media....and speaking of the media , can't they hire anyone that speaks American....To me they all sound funny........

What a great tournament, worth taking the time to watch. I was so happy for Phil, with all he and his family have been through how could you not root for the guy.

I can't say it better than this;
Quotation from Fanhouse; "How telling, as Woods is exposed as a serial philanderer, that Mickelson devotes his life to helping the two most important women in his life battle breast cancer. As Jim Nantz put it so eloquently on CBS, a tournament known for the color green was overtaken by pink Sunday. Where Woods goes from here, as a golfer and a man, only he knows. But Mickelson goes straight to a place where few athletes settle anymore, a pedestal that can be admired without fear he'll let anyone down." |

Totally agree with all posts. I think this years Masters was restored to the greatness Bobby Jones had inspired it to be!
We have always been, "Big Lefty" fans and were so happy he could win it this year. I hope Tiger was taking notes...................... Army Guy

A great tournament and a well deserved win for Lefty. I hate to be cynical, but these days it's best to just appreciate the moment and not put any athlete on a pedistal. Remember Tiger's early tournaments with his dad, then with his wife? Unfortunately people (human beings) often do not live up our expectations of them. |

You are right of course Bobkat...and I had a couple thoughts when I typed that quote.....but...
But...I'd be willing to bet five dollars that Phil will stay the course. |

Really was a great finish. I must confess I was pulling a bit for Lee to get his first major. Was it just me or could you see the emotion/disappointment on Westwood's face in his after round interview?
I also kept waiting for Phil to miss that putt or shot, but he never did. He really stepped up and finished like a champion today.... Good stuff for sure.... PS. How fun would it be to be a fly on the wall to hear what Tiger's private thoughts were about Phil winning or hear Phil's private thoughts about beating Tiger on his grand comeback. Something tells me we will never know ![]() |

I was so sure that Phil would screw up somehow, he nearly always does. But he pulled it off without a hitch. Bless him.
By the way, does anybody know if this is true - that the origin of the word GOLF was in Scotland when the game was new and was described as: Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden I read it somewhere |

jblum, I had heard the same acronym story as well, but I looked it up on Wictionary, here is the etymology of the word "golf" : "The word is first known in English from the 15th century from Scots. Although the etymology is uncertain, the most likely origin is thought to be from the Middle Dutch colf (“‘club’”). Note that the idea that “golf” is an acronym from "gentlemen only, ladies forbidden" is false - this is a folk etymology."
