Default Eyeglassworld in Leesburg

I think I've stepped into a nightmare.

I went to get the 2 pair for $78 as advertised in the paper. $319 later (and they want $80 more for the correction they made yesterday to one pair) I have 2 pairs of glasses which make my vision worse, not better. I can't wear them. I should have googled this business before going. If you're thinking about going there, please google the chain first. Has anyone been able to get a refund from this business? From what I'm reading - now that it's too late to stay out of the store- I'm in for a nasty run.

Thanks for any help or advice.

The Florida Dept of Health licenses opticians thru the Board of Opticianry - their website is here: http://www.doh.state.fl.us/MQA/optic...o_lic_req.html

There is a link where you can print out a complaint form which can be filed with the Board which must then investigate the alleged problem[s] you are having with the business.

I worked for the NJ Div of Consumer who licensed all health professionals in the S of NJ and each of the Boards was very successful in mediating and resolving consumer issues. Perhaps the Florida Dept of Health can do the same for you.

Hope this helps.

If you used a credit card, call them and they will tell you how do do a charge back.

Thanks. I did use a credit card. Thought I'd wait until Monday to call them, but that's a holiday. (Does anyone observe holidays in business any more?) I'm hoping that they will help me. I will also check out the Board of Opticianry site given above. Thanks for the help. I sure wish I had googled before I went. Live and learn.

You should be able to call your credit card company anytime and start a dispute.

Good point. Most card companies have Cust. Svc. available 24/7.

Turns out the FL Attny. General has entered into prior "disputes" with this corporation. I'm gathering info and will call the credit card co. in the morning. The whole thing has me exhausted and I haven't started "the battle" yet. I am learning a lot by researching this corporation and complaints against them though. Thanks to you who have replied. I will need cheerleaders, I'm sure.
