One other thing is if you watch the weather on the different stations you will get a wide range differences in the forecast. One station takes the low road while the other takes the high. Overall the temperature can be within a 15 degree range at times depending on the station. I guess the old saying being close only counts in hand grenades and atomic war also holds true for weather forecasting.

We just returned from my son's wedding in Boston.
Five days before, weather.com said that there was a 100% chance of snow on his wedding day, Feb 24 in the zip code of the wedding. They predicted 6-12 inches of snow.
While some areas north and west of Boston got 6-7 inches where we were, 20 miles south of the city, got rain.
It did snow very lightly twice while we were there, but it was no more than a dusting. The wedding went off without a hitch.
But the stores did run out of milk and bread.

I ALMOST started tracking the major news stations and the weather channel on their forecasts just 2 days in advance than reporting who was more accurate over time. Just got way out of hand though. Lol. Than thought they can't even get ONE day in advance right. But, to their defense, when they say there is a xx% chance of precipitation it is very hard to get it perfect. We all know we can be standing in rain and across the street it is not raining.

It seems to me that at least up in Ohio we get more of the 6" of partly cloudy forecasts than usual these days.

How silly is it that The Weather Channel NAMES snowstorms now! This last one that put a mere 3 inches on Chicago's streets was named Winter Storm Rocky! Good grief! 3 inches back in the 60's in Chicago was a dusting to us. Now, they name snowfall like hurricanes.

I was working at WITY in Danville, Illinois when that came along. The news guy & I spent 4 days snowed in at the station broadcasting around the clock. There were some guys who would occasionally show up on snowmobiles and brought us food & drink. What a lot of fun that was!
