I don't think it is terrorism. I don't understand how ANYONE can make light of ANY conversation with Ebola in it. ANY CONVERSATION. Do some people think that any negative and worrying thoughts are political??????
My friend Susan who is a Methodist posted this animated video about Ebola on Facebook a few minutes ago. It is from The United Methodist Chruch and it is meant to make clear how Ebola is spread and is not "prayer-y" for those opposed to that. I am not sure it is helpful, but makes us remember that there are families just like ours in Africa. Ebola is scary stuff. Ebola: A Poem for the Living - United Methodist Communications

I don't think any of us know what this will be in the future but for now it is what it is... one man from W. Africa and one nurse who treated him. Why borrow problems?

There are 10 million people living in Sierra Leone and Liberia. The WHO is estimating , and estimates can be wildly wrong, that new cases may reach several thousands a week in the near future. At the same time, the WHO WHO | Are the Ebola outbreaks in Nigeria and Senegal over? has declared the outbreak nearly over in Nigeria and Senegal.
At the same time today's audio update is found here: http://terrance.who.int/mediacentre/..._14OCT2014.mp3 |

No, it's not crazy. It could be used by terrorists. Here's how: First you get someone infected with Ebola. Then you put a suicide vest on them and send them into a crowded venue like a sporting event etc.. When the person explodes, blood and other bodily fluids will go flying everywhere. Can you imagine trying to clean all that up afterward?

I just read a post from a nurse's perspective online and this disease sounds to be something we "should be" concerned about. It is a virus that is spread by bodily fluids---ie sneezing, mucus (think blowing nose, not washing hands then touching door knobs etc). She also said because we've heard it to be "over there" (Africa) and not here, we can compartmentalize it and tell ourselves it's because of their primitive way of living. That we're WAY ahead of them and it can't happen to our population. She also said it could be preventable here... I'd take that meaning to be that folks who have been in "those" countries should be quarantined before being able to return here. The disease begins much like a cold or the flu then goes into the really, really bad stuff. "Over there" the death possibility is 90% but here it would be 50%. I'm rambling a bit but this is her words... We need to be praying for this country in MORE ways than one. JMHO!

Scared? I didn't say that but OK, you call it scared and I'll call it concerned. You said it yourself, we don't know the future. We do know what this virus can do.

Please take the time to research ,not just accept TV or newspaper as total fact. The informational pieces are scattered in variety of data that once compiled give a better " big picture" of how it is spread, how we are truly not prepared for a national calamity of this type. Remember the influenza in the 1900's or the bubonic plague. Now we have more mobility and larger population gatherings( football stadiums and other venues) every individual needs to be prepared to isolate themselves and their family for the duration if it does indeed becomes epidemic.

Maybe a terrorist attack from within for not trying to control it entering the US?

This sounds like proposing that the Global Warming problem is caused by terrorists. Global warming effects everyone. I have more faith in our medical community than in the federal and state bureaucracies that regulate it. |

Do you think the world we now be a better place had Columbus stayed put? Besides, the real lesson from the devastation of native peoples, and which is still applicable today (ebola, ISIS etc) is ... unless you secure your borders, you lose. |
