Default I miss........

Not living within a mile of my mom and bringing her dinner or just popping in to see her. I miss breakfast at our little home town airport with my husband and my mom watching the single engine planes take off and land. I miss my daughter and being able to hug my little grand baby. Luckily, life here keeps me busy so I don't have a ton of time thinking about the things I miss. I enjoy making memories here. Life is good.

Boy, I had to give this some thought! I miss friends, relatives and pets who have passed on, but that's about it. I can't even say I miss my good health and youthful vigor, because it seems pointless to dwell on that. Nobody gets out of this life alive.

I try to live my life without three things: worry, envy, and regret. The first two are easier for me but I sometimes struggle with the third.

I'm no doubt idealizing, but I spent most of my elementary school years in San Diego and my memories are of warm, hazy days, my sister and I tearing around on our bikes with other neighborhood kids. To the park, to the playground, to the corner store. We'd pick prickly pears in the canyons and slide down the grassy hills on old pieces of cardboard. Go exploring in the runoff ditch behind our house, which we were forbidden to do. We'd be free and sweaty until twilight when everyone's mothers would start to stand on their front porches and shout that dinner was ready.

I miss kids today not having that. Play dates, really?

Of all the things I've lost;
I miss my mind the most HA HA

Seriously, I miss getting out of bed in the morning and not having all the aches and pains.

I hear you on that one, Duffysmom. I miss those dogs that are waiting at the Rainbow Bridge and more than that, I miss my parents every moment of every day with all my heart and soul. Will I ever lose the empty place where that ache is? Sounds immature doesn't it? But I used to talk to my parents every day, even as an adult, and I can't get used to not having them around to share all aspects of my life with them. They were such great people. The nice thing is my husband and kids say they feel the same way, even after all these years.

LTBD, I'm afraid you can't loose that empty place. When they die, they take a piece of your soul with them. Still miss my dad who died (too early) in 1968, when I was 20.

Agree with you CFrance and LTBD, I miss my mom who died 16 years ago at the all too young age of 67.

I miss a lot of things.
...I miss my daughter and family in Michigan and the house we built and lived in for 23 years.
...I miss my family, friends, and pets who have passed on.
...I miss the spryness, agility, and endless energy I used to have. I miss not being able to do cartwheels anymore and not being as fearless as I once was.
...I miss the corner drugstore and Five and Ten where I would sit at the counter on a stool and drink chocolate cokes, cherry cokes, or vanilla cokes and eat salisbury steak with my mom.
...I miss riding the bus downtown to meet teenage girlfriends and eat lunch in the Macy's Tearoom.
...I miss our Sundays at Grandpa and Grandma's farm 20 miles away where I would help Grandma harvest her garden, collect eggs from the coop, visit the hatchery, swim in the big round cow trough and sit on the tractor seat Grandpa had mounted on a stump and "drive" for what seemed like hours. I miss the smell of Grandma's house, her fried chicken dinners, cherry pie, homemade pickles, and getting water from the pump in the front yard. I don't miss watching her chop off the chicken's head.

Dang nostalgia!
