Default Things Neighbors Do

I went to take my trash out the other day, and, to my surprise, there were two men dismantling the 6-foot privacy fence between our property and our neighbors. (These are good neighbors, too.)

The men said that our neighbors are going to reinstall the fence at their house in Pennsylvania.

This leaves us and our neighbor on the other side with three-sided fenced yards and no way to keep our doggies in the yard.

It would have so nice if they'd let us know their plans, so we could have had a fence company ready to put up a replacement.

Life is very strange sometimes.

Jan,

Just take it as another sign that it is time to move to TV.

Was it solely your neighbors fence? I thought a fence between houses was shared property if it was on the boundary line. This would mean that A or B owned the fence only if the fence was solely on their property.

It's gone now. Not much you could do but sue and then you would be out doubly.

Default Fence

It was on their line. We'll be calling a fencing company today to get it replaced.

I'm annoyed with them for not letting us know, but they are a nice family, and I think they're having financial problems. They had to close their restaurant and are either buying or working at one four hours away in Pa.

Tony got my multiple personalities fixed, so I'm njgranny again.

NJgranny, nice to have you back again! A heads up on the fence removal would have been the considerate thing. But as you say, who knows what is going on in their life. Its a shame that you have to scramble to fix the debacle. But, one of my favorite sayings is, don't sweat the small stuff. Some folks don't have yards to put up fences! Wishing you a stress free day!!!

Smile Neighbors

People never cease to amaze me. But you could be right about the financial problems. Many people are hurting but won't let on why. They feel like failures and are embarrassed to tell other people. It seems like you're handling the situation in a very nice way.

Rhonda is right, at least we all have yards to put fences up in, when so many are losing their homes. It's very sad.

Kinda of reminds me of 'Mending Wall' by Robert Frost.
