Default Thoughtful piece of history

Is there such a thing as "cultural memory" (or perhaps another name might be more appropriate)? Hopefully this link will work....

That kind of violence had happened before unfortunately. It is often between cultures that are extremely different from one another like the Greeks and Persians, the Mongols and their victims, the Huns and their conquered, etc. The Mongol conquests were a little bit after the Crusades or at least some of them.

That is a very interesting site you linked. Thanks.

What I wonder is if there is such a thing as--not even sure what to call it--cultural memory or maybe better expressed as "what goes around comes around"? For example, when you think of the animosities among the different groups from within the former "artificial" country Yugoslavia held in check by one leader (Marshal Tito), when he died all h*** broke loose with ill feelings from centuries earlier. Could this be, at least in part, behind today's current events?

Yes, I find this a fascinating website: <www.elanceyplace.com> You can sign up to receive a daily blurb from a generally thoughtful book.
