Tim Russert just died!
I am so shocked. He has been having such a great time with this election. He smiles all the time. He was only 58.

Quote:
NBC's Tim Russert Dies at 58 AP Posted: 2008-06-13 15:56:37 Filed Under: TV News, Nation News WASHINGTON (June 13) - Tim Russert, host of NBC's "Meet the Press" and its Washington bureau chief, collapsed and died at work Friday after suffering an apparent heart attack. He was 58. Russert, of Buffalo, N.Y., took the helm of the Sunday news show in December 1991 and turned it into the most widely watched program of its type in the nation. His signature trait there was an unrelenting style of questioning. Washingtonian magazine once dubbed Russert the best journalist in town, and described "Meet the Press" as "the most interesting and important hour on television. He also wrote best-selling books, "Big Russ and Me," in 2004, and "Wisdom of our Fathers," in 2006. This year, Time magazine named him one of the 100 most influential people in the world. Russert also was a senior vice president at NBC.

Re: Tim Russert just died!
I am truly sorry for his family and the media community. I always enjoyed watching him, didn't always agree with him but never doubted his integrity. We have lost Peter Jennings and now Tim Russert, very sad.

This is a very sad day. My prayers are with his family and many, many friends. I loved watching him on Meet the Press every Sunday. I can't imagine who can and will replace him.

I live near Buffalo, NY and Tim Russert was raised here. He never forgot his roots and was a big booster of Buffalo. He will be sadly missed.
Prayers to his young son, wife, and his father. |

Re: Tim Russert just died!
It was really heartbreaking watching all the tributes to Russert this weekend on all the networks. In so many ways, the DC area is very much a small town as SteveZ and the many of you who lived there can attest. I always felt that Russert was a neighbor, tho I lived in Alexandria and he around Rock Creek Park, and always kinda expected to run into him when buying my Powerball tickets over on Wisconsin or dropping into a place in Georgetown. And I knew if I did, it would be the most natural encounter in the world. I am very sorry it never happened.
I will regret not having Russert as a newsman in the future, but mainly I deeply regret that he will miss growing older with his family, seeing his son marry and holding his first grandchild. He deserves that.
