It's good you are going to keep busy. Be sure to have a plan for each day. I retired a year ago last December and it felt like I was playing hookie for the first 6 months. You'll want to plan your days but don't overdo your activities. Be sure to take time each day to keep yourself in shape and smell the roses.

Congratulations!! I am right where you are. Yesterday I closed down my office and turned over the lease to colleague who was very happy to start the next phase of her career there. The time feels right. I am so happy to start the next chapter of my life. I close on the sale of my home on May 15th and on the 16th
I will be on the road driving to my new home in The Villages. I imagine I might get there and think "Yikes, what have I done." However, everyone assures me that will be temporary. I am very excited thinking about my life in The Villages.

Congratulations on your retirement. Enjoy each day, because time moves even more quickly once you're retired! We look forward to seeing more of you and S. when you're both back in The Bubble.

Yo 12,...what they all said. But most importantly, you can stop putting pressure on yourself, for any reason. My son hit the nail on the head when he said "relax, dude. You earned it". Every day I find myself taking a few minutes to think about how lucky I am. Come on down and relax...it only gets better!!

Congratulations! I retired 9 years ago (medical work) and celebrate the anniversary date every year! When the paperwork became more important than the patient here in NYS, I knew it was my time to retire. I walked out with the biggest smile.....and continue that smile.

The best is yet to come! The Land 'o The Sun and Fun is waiting for you.

Happiness always!

Like you I was second guessing myself for the whole last month of work. Perhaps I should have worked one more year???? However you get so busy getting moved that soon you are ready to relax and have fun.....and that just continues! Don't overbook your activities. Allow some down time.

Fireboy reluctantly retired at the end of January after 32 years as a firefighter. He loved his job. This is his first full winter in The Bubble. He is having a great time. Today, for the first time, he said the magic words: "I wish I'd retired earlier".

Congrats!!; April 1st is the anniversary date of my retirement also. The last day I was paid to labor was March 31st 2008. April 1st, 2012 will be 4 great years of being paid "not to work".

Hope it works out great for you. I hit the retirement road walking (retired men don't run) and haven't looked back. Afraid I might turn into a pillar of salt.

All the best!!

It will be 10 years for me on April 10th. I did look back, but I didn't turn to salt!
