Default Tons of Restaurant Discounts for Seniors!

I was thinking about joining AARP just to get the Outback Restaurant discount tho I dread the though of being bombarded with their magazine and ads...so far I have not joined.

But it made me wonder about restaurants that offer discounts and a quick Google search pulled up a lot that I did not realize offered specials for seniors (if you ask).

I haven't tested these but I was surprised to see Dunkin Donuts, Chic Fil A and a number of other places. It even has Publix offering a discount (as mentioned I have not tried these yet)

Here is one list I found: http://www.couponkatie.com/2013/05/o...s-stores-more/

When you join AARP, you are supporting their "causes".

Your site shows Publix offers 15% off every Wednesday - I have never been offered a discount on a Wednesday. May be we have to ask for it or may be our Publix don't offer it.

I just called Publix in Colony and they said that other states offer Publix discount to seniors, but NOT Florida.

That's a shame for sure.

When using a restaurant coupon, the tip should still reflect the cost of the meal despite it being largely reduced or second meal free or whatever. Cheapskates often stiff the server because their check's bottom line is small.

Seniors are not the only ones on a "fixed income". Everybody working and paying taxes is on a "fixed income", too.

When it comes to tipping, I think it depends on who is allowed to make the rules. If you allow the restaurant and/or waiters to make the rules, of course they will tell you to tip on the regular price of the meal, rather than the discounted price. But, in reality, the discounted price becomes the new price. You can't ignore reality; the price is the price.

Discounts are usually given for a reason. Maybe it's to compete with other restaurants. Maybe it's because the original price was too high. Maybe it's due to the summer being a slow season. Maybe all of the above. But whatever the reason, the discounted price is the new price. It's the real price. It's the current price based on the reality of whatever the business situation happens to be at the time.

If anyone wishes to tip more, they are always free to do so. But no one should be made to feel as though they are supposed to. Restaurants and waiters don't get to make all the rules to suit themselves.

I've read several times that Dunkin Donuts gives free coffee to seniors. If that were true here ours would go out of business!! May try it elsewhere, though.

I thought the same thing. Never got a discount at Publix. From now on I will ask! I think this list is great. Thanks to the OP for posting.
