My grandsons, ages 6 and 8, will be visiting soon. They are huge Harry Potter fans so this seems like something they would enjoy. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions to make this a fun experience for all? Thanks!

I've never been there, but I was also thinking about taking my niece and her two boys there when they visit this summer. They are about the same age as your grandsons, and they love, love, love Harry Potter. I guess they're about the right age to enjoy Harry Potter World. From what I've read about the park on-line, you exit right into the gift shop, so my only advice would be to wear comfortable shoes and bring lots of money.

I've posted this tip before, it was given to me by someone and I found it to be true. When you go to the wand shop...where the wand chooses you..in reality, the shop will be CROWDED with a long line to get in...then the 'wand' chooses one person out of the whole crowd. To avoid this, go to the back of the building, there is another entrance to the shop if you want to buy them a wand. Make sure you try the butter-beer..delicious! Have fun! We can't wait to get back and we don't have small ones!

My daughter was there five days ago and has not stopped raving yet. Hands down wins over Disney for her. The kids are gonna love it. Get express pass and wait less than 15mins for rides vs up to 75minutes per. That's the best to do.

Butter beer, the wand shop, the ride inside of Hogwarts, and even the food - everything about the place is great for the grandkids and grandparents. Loved it.

Are we all on the same planet??? We went last year….it was so crowed that there was no room to walk……there was only a wand shop, candy store and three attraction rides in just Harry‘s village…. Was very disappointed on how small the Village was…. The children did not get to do much there… The prices were so outrages. Butterbeer/$10.50 in souvenir cup (refills $3) some of the candy, like chocolate frog (was so small) $10...water was $4.00 a small bottle. And to get into the park is $88 per adult and $82 per child for one day….the more days you go is less, for and adult $119 for 2 days, $135 for three, and for the children $109 for 2days, $123. For three. Florida Residents get a very small discount $76.50 for adults and if the children are not from Fl you will have to pay the reg. price for them. And, that is for only one of the parks…You need to Google the park to get all the prices for both parks. I suggest you do that to see the park maps to see how small Harry Potter really is. I am sorry I can have more fun doing other things with the children than spend all that money and have a miscible time. And the children do not remember it much when they grow up…

Does anybody know anything about the onsite hotel at Universal? Now my niece thinks we should spend the night. Thanks for any suggestions.

I also thought that it would be a good idea to stay at Universal. We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge when I took my grandsons to Disney and it was so convenient. Both being close to Magic Kingdom and being able to take a break from Magic Kingdom made the visit very pleasant. But I don't know anything about the hotels at Universal.
