Default How many villages are in the villages?

We just returned from visiting the villages. I was never able to find a listing of all of the villages. Is there a complete map that has all of the village names?

Default Sat. papers

There's a section that has a map of all the north of 466 Villages and all the south of 466 Villages - you only get the one insert where you live, but imagine you can get another at a kiosk in the section you don't live in. That's a good map of Village locations, separated by color.

Another way to check is thevillages.com - pre-owned homes for sale - drop down box of Village in the search screen lists most of them, maybe not the newest if there are no resales yet. Probably also lists the 2 or 3 "family" friendly villages that are not really a regular part of the villages - they have access to multi-modal paths but not to pools/rec centers/exec. golf.

There are maps on this page at the left hand side towards the top.

I asked this very same question at the Villages Sales Office a couple of weeks ago. I was told the number is currently 72 villages and numbers 73 and 74 are opening up very soon.

I would like to find out the current square mileage of The Villages. That is not so easy as the borders are not even to just multiply length times width. I did some very rough calculation and think it is near 90 square miles since you have to consider the Historic side on the other side of 441/27.

Here is a related question I have: "By what method are the separate villages named?"

Village names and street names---where do they come up with some of the street names?

I don't think the quoted 32 square miles is close to bring right. Go into the historic side and drive straight Morse to hwy 44 and you are in The Villages all the while. You will have driven about 20 miles. Again, drive
Buena Vista straight from Mulberry to 44and you have gone about 17 miles.

The Villages is more than 4 miles wide anywhere.

Could be. Some just don't make sense, some are bizarre, some have meanings beyond being a street name, and many are impossible to spell based on their pronunciation.

There is a "Due West Drive" but no "Due East Drive." There is an "East Gaffney Street" but no "West Gaffney Street" (or is it the other way around?). Do the folks who live on "Craven Street" know what "craven" means? (Look it up.) Why is the Churchill STREET Rec Center on Churchill DOWNS? Why are some ordinary sized streets given a name followed by BOULEVARD? I've come across streets with virtually the same names (can't think of any right off); just imagine the confusion they create! Why a whole area devoted to Ernest Hemingway, including a village named after one of his wives? (Look it up.) Why are El Camino Real and Paige Place actually the same street? Every time I see "Homeland Park" I think of the Department of Homeland Security! And the list can go on and on and on and on, and then on some more! Still, you have to give "The Villages Street Namer" a lot of credit, as it really must be a daunting task....
