They are all over our property in Los Angeles, and they love to torment the Schnauzers. They purposely come out of hiding when the dogs are out so they cause the brats to bark and run all over the property. I think now there's a family of them. The dogs go nuts... I hope they never catch one. I'd have to cook it like Muncle suggests, ugh!!! Along with the escargot, sounds like a great meal...Blah!

Isn't there an operation that will help Fumar remove that thing from his anole? Maybe I should reread this thread. I could have gotten confused while I was speed reading and playing three handed gin. :dontknow:

As far as I know, there is nothing you can do to keep them out. In 2 1/2 yrs, I've only seen them in the house once. Doesn't mean they're not there, only that I didn't see them.

You might try Lowes or Home Depot to see if they have a device for your yard that will attract the beasts and keep them outside. I think it's probably overkill, but you can ask the clerk if they have any anole retentive supplies.

I was concerned about them in the house too, and asked the Vet if they would harm the dogs in any way. Her reply, "don't let them eat too many". Basically, anoles are a nuisance but do eat bugs, and keep my dogs amused.

Wonder if those sticky traps you use for mice would work for them.

See I have been calling these anoles-- geckos -- or some other choice word related to what they were doing at the time. http://www.anolebook.com/

A neighbor told me that if you keep some in your lanai, the spiders will disappear.

I'm sorry, but I have to speak up. I think sticky traps are about the most inhumane thing you can do! Even if it is mice and geckos, starving them to death isn't humane. :realmad:

They eat many of the insects that we complain about the younger ones get confused and some time get into your garage but they are a good partner in keeping the bugs down

I think the geckos...anoles..(Irish Rover and I are on the same wave length...laughing ) are adorable. I sit on my lanai and watch them chase each other. I think they are actually trying to mate. But my other thought coincides with Muncle...deep fried and served with hot sauce?
