Default Easter Morning - A True Story

I am the caregiver for my chronically ill husband. Life is hard and very discouraging for us both sometimes, but we do have many many blessings.

Just a few minutes ago, I looked out the glass panes in our front door and saw what I take as a message of hope and a reminder of a wonderful memory. I saw the Easter Bunny hopping around the driveway of my neighbor directly across the street. Yes, it was a real rabbit hopping right up to the front door. I watched him for several minutes.

When my three children were little, we visited my parents for Easter one year. The Easter baskets were put by the front door early in the morning before they woke up. As they were waking up, my father opened the front door and started exclaiming "Look, there goes the Easter Bunny. Everyone come and see.". Of course, the children all ran to the door as Grandfather continued to point outside trying to show the children where the Easter Bunny had gone. I, too, was "looking" for the Easter Bunny, but "missed" seeing him. There was much excitement for the rest of the day as the children were so excited that Grandfather had seen the Easter Bunny.

Well Daddy (Grandfather), today I saw the Easter Bunny too.

Yes. You have been blessed with a wonderful memory. When my grandchildren were small, I would shake sleigh bells and say "there goes Santa". They'd run to the back door while Cherie and my son would quickly bring presents from the front closet to under the tree. They thought Santa had just dropped them off. May the rest of your Easter be filled with more of the heart warming times you and hubby have had with your family.

Thanks for sharing, mommieswamie.

We have Easter Bunnies too in Lynnhaven along with ducks, squirrels, an opossum with young, an occasional egret, and various other wildlife.

I read my posting, and the kind responses, to my husband when he woke up at 9:30 this morning. It put a smile on his face - a face that was so glum all day yesterday.

Thank you, thank you to all.

I'm sure you and hubby must deal with many challenges, but I do want to thank you for sharing one of your happy times with all of us here. It was great fun, I have no doubt.

May you both be blessed this day and in all the days to come.

Your story brought a tear to my eye. It was so very poignant and reminded me that we all have many things for which to be thankful. Thank you!

Default Truly Touched Today

I am truly touched that so many of you responded to my small effort to find joy and hope today - and Daddy, I hope you heard me when I said that I too had now seen the Easter Bunny.
