Sitting in my office I get a call from my frantic wife "I am on the way to Target - your daughter (19) had a car accident in the parking lot" (no injuries!). I came home to find my beloved CRV with a smashed front bumper. I started it and it purred to life like always.. Those Honda motors are wonderful.

"Dad it wasn't my fault..(Tears). I explain that we have to be careful or our insurance will go thru the roof. She says the others drivers insurance will cover it. I say "we will see- I doubt it." .... "You make it sound like it was my fault..(more tears)" I tell her sometimes who caused the accident doesn't matter.

A colleague with a daughter a year older than mine had accident after accident and it caused a huge amount of stress and expense for her. I couldn't get help but think "here we go..."

The next day We get a call from the other drivers insurance. They say "We are taking full responsibility". 4 days later the car is repaired and as good as new. It was all remove and replace (bumper, headlight etc.,). I am incredulous!

In the end this old man was wrong again (I am getting used to it). - At least I am sure thats what my 19 year old thinks. You can't tell a 19 year anything...

Great story. Reminds me of my son telling me, "Mom, if you would just take two minutes to think what you'll need, you wouldn't have to go back in the house every time we get in the car to leave."

Some kids parent you before you know you need it.

Glad to read that all was okay...and hope that 19 yr old young lady got a humble apology from her dear old dad!

I am glad that everything worked out for the best considering the event, and most importantly, it sounds like your daughter was not hurt. I am incredulous that there was not an attempt to assign some portion of "causal effect" (read: blame) on your daughter due to her "lack of driving experience". I am in no means implying that there should be blame on her, I am just so used to hearing that a younger person has some percentage of blame as an automatic. Kudos to your insurance company.

So what is next, Comcast actually providing timely customer service?
