I can only speak for suburban Chicago. TP and hand sanitizer are now much more widely available, although quantities are limited per customer to avoid hoarding. Yesterday I was able to purchase both one pack of TP and one bottle of hand sanitizer at my local Target store. Thermometers were available on Amazon a couple of weeks ago. Masks...many people are selling cloth masks on etsy.com. I have purchased several cloth masks on Etsy.

I do that sometimes wear a mask with windows up, because I plan to go out of the car in the near future and be among people so I won’t forget the mask . And the windows are up to keep in the air conditioning.

The CDC recommends use of non-medical, cloth-based face coverings in some public settings. Medical masks should be reserved for healthcare workers. A cut and paste from the CDC. Be the outlaw you always wanted to be!

Today I saw a couple and both had masks BUT the cat and the dog they had in the grocery store were not wearing any. Does that make sense? Can't those pets carry the virus? Don't know, just asking. Personally I'm not real fond of cats, dogs, or whatever in the grocery store. Leader dogs yes. Companion dogs, no.
Just my opinion though so don't throw rocks

Cats and dogs, as far as we know so far, can’t transmit to people but can get the virus from people themselves.

If social distancing, no mask is needed.


CDC recommendation: In light of this new evidence, CDC recommends wearing cloth face coverings in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores and pharmacies) especially in areas of significant community-based transmission.


So not everyone needs one.

This whole "comfort animal" think in public...has gotten WAAAAY out of hand.

Seeing-eye dogs in grocery/other stores?

Absolutely and of course...no problem.

TRAINED dogs to detect strokes/heart attacks/etc?

Again...no problem.

Bringing Fifi into public places, because she makes you happy...and calms you down?

as I wear glasses, I cannot wear a mask. My glasses steam up and I can't see. This has been happening since I was a child at Halloween....

I do however wear gloves.

That means the mask is not tight enough to the face and your breath is coming out at the top of the mask (and that breathing in brings in outside air!!).

If you bring the mask/material far enough up under your eyes to adequately cover the nose area this usually provides more of a seal and stops the breath coming out the top.

Yes the bottom of your glasses will be over the mask.

Same happens to me so I clean my sunglasses with a cloth when I’m further from people. The other thing is to seal the mask with bandaid or skin tape near the nose.

I have not tried this, but I read that if you clean your glasses with shaving foam, they won't fog up.
