or just a knee jerk partisan response.
You posted: "Theres no discussion because it is the same people who would oppose anything this president and congress did. Why bother." If this were remotely a justification then many of us would have fled the scene with the ongoing, daily, no matter what subject, continuous Bush bashing, oh by the way by the same few people. The more of these pearls of wisdom that come forth, the more confirmation that you all are the only folks who can "snipe" at the opposition. That you folks expect blind acceptance of your belief or following. And by your quote above, you expect no discussion. I would further add you all are very consistent as you NEVER respond to or address the issue at hand. As in this thread....still nothing but partisan snipes with no issue content....EVER! Very much the way congress works today. btk |

Well, well, well, what have we here? You seem to think that you are pointing me toward the exit by quoting the only Democrat I ever truly loved. Ah, btk, you have inspired me to share with you yet another quote from Harry Truman. Harry Truman said, “Most of the problems a President has to face have their roots in the past.” Not to worry, btk, I will be leaving soon. But my leave has nothing to do with heat. It has everything to do with finally coming to my senses and remembering that old saying about how the only good thing about beating my head against a brick wall is that it feels so good when I stop. But before I go, I want to drop off a little something. A link to the thread I started here one night when I had obviously taken leave of my senses. I opened the floor to a discussion of my concern for the Republican party’s abandonment of moderate Republicans. If you bother to read through this thread, without a jaundiced eye, you can see where it disintegrates. You took your usual “Bush Basher” shot early in the thread. But I continued past it. I was not bashing Bush. All I had done was to tell my little tale of “the way we were” in that picture I have. A light little touch. A little attempt at humor. So unwelcome I know. But illustrating that I was once, twice, a Bush vote. I also brought up the things that have influenced my thinking to make me a moderate. I even comment about seeing the greeniacs for what they really are. And I most certainly make clear that I think healthcare needs to be addressed for the sake of those who have no affordable access, but at no point do I say that socialized medicine is the answer. I say that an answer must be found. But that discussion cannot take place over the deafening chants of the right wing. Chants with wording bought and paid for from Frank Luntz. In this thread that I am linking here, there are points at which I actually thought I saw a little glimmer of discussion start. But watch what happens when I acknowledge common ground. Moderates are capable of recognizing common ground and we stand on that ground and think it would be a good place to build. But if you deign to look at this thread, you might see what happens when moderate me calls attention to finding common ground with some of the regulars from the right. I found them not to be so far right as they often appear. But look at what happens. The comfort zone found here in the mutual admiration society was violated by an intruding moderate. And the mutual admiration society members revert to type. Well anyway, btk, this was a lot more than a drive-by. Oh how I hope that I can think of it as a drive-BYE. That’s because I saw that other thing in your post. That part where you address the nice array of questions and make the little comment about the pin dropping. Well, btk, that is what happens around here a lot. A wagon master always emerges and said wagon master orders those wagons in a circle. And those wagons always circle. But, btk, with those wagons in a circle, hasn’t anybody ever noticed that it is impossible to move forward? Boomer Oh yeah, here’s the link to the thread I cited. It was my party and I'll cry if I want to |

Having said that, many folks think I am either a Bush aplogist or a very hard right Republican...not guilty to either. I have made my position clear...I STRONGLY OBJECT to our current President's idealogy...I object to the ignoring of his past and training and as I said many times during the campaign...this is the perfect storm...a man in the WH with his idealogy working with congressional leaders that are even worse. I dont want to get into this more deeply than saying I objected to much...MUCH of what happened in the last eight years (NOT ALL by any shot), but wonder to myself what Bush has to do with the massive spending on social programs...what Bush has to do with the President and Congress jamming money through at 3 AM in the morning ....what Bush has to do with congress passing the largest spending in our country's history WITHOUT READING IT. What does Bush have to do with the string of broken promises already and only 5 months in. You cannot blame the previous administration for those things...did they over spend....you betcha, but at some point there has to be separation. Bush had nothing to do with the unconscionable spending done with NO thought that is going on right now ! If my feelings about the current President, which I did not develp overnight and have espoused since the very beginning of the PRIMARY so it is not a party effort on my part, ..for some reason makes me ineligible to post my remarks, so be |

giving up on ever hearing a response to the questions asked. And the ongoing evaluation of who said what, who meant what, who intended what, here's what I think you said and here is what I think about that. Interpretation of the one on one verbiage....and STILL NO RESPONSE TO THE QUESTION POSED IN THE THREAD.
Time to give up on this thread and hope for something else interesting to come up soon. I am encouraged to satrt seeing other posters showing up and contrary to the belief of a few....it doesn't matter what their party it is what they say.....ABOUT THE SUBJECT. Partisan pandering is so narrow, so boring and never addresses the subject. btk ![]() |
