I hate to show my ignorance, but could someone tell me what this bill is all about. I must have my head in the sand, but I am completely at a loss as to what it is.

Tnx

The simplist explanation is: "The largest tax increase in American history" Its a lot more complicated than that but that sums up the result.
A very interesting point has been raised that it will likely cause emissions to increase since some heavy industries will probably move out of the US to other countries that do not have such a system. Strange that the unions are supporting this.

Well, if it passes the Senate, get ready to dish out more $$$$. He admits that electric bills will go up.

Rep. Debbie Halvorson Il. swore she would not vote for this bill..even if she got a call from Obama. Guess what happened ? She voted for the bill after a call.

My rep Lamborn (R) and the one to the south of me (D) both voted against it. But for the State of Colorado....4/3 Yes.

Well, when the rates for residential and commercial electricity go up, it will be interesting to see how they skewer the Consumer Price Index this time to show there's no effect on cost-of-living....

Interesting reflection of our times. A true story.

My wife and 7 other women went on a mini-golf vacation down Cape Cod. This has been an annual event for many years. Most of them don't like golf but they all get together and do various activities like having a cook-out, shopping, catching a movie etc. Fun had by all.
Anyways my wife asked the other women what they thought of the Cap and Trade bill that was being pushed through congress. Do you know what the result of this mini-poll? Not one women in 7 ever heard of Cap and Trade.
Yes, you heard right. They had no opinion because they never heard of it until my wife asked them what they thought of the bill.
I know this is just one example but these woman were not housewives or people who were recluses. All these women were court reporters(stenographers) and a couple were business owners.
Interesting, huh?

My wife was in Pa for 2 weeks. I picked her up at the airport yesterday. Among the many things we talked about on the drive home was the "cap+trade bill. I brought it up and asked what she and her family thought about it.... well, she had no idea what I was talking about and obviously it wasn't discussed. I do think the majority of citizens remain in the dark on this. When their health care benefits start getting taxed I betcha they notice that real quickly.... likewise with skyrocketing utility bills.

Just like much of the public I believe the fools that voted for this are clueless as to what they voted on. Of course this bill is meant to punish the people that waste energy. You know the ones that use electricity, gas, drive a car, use a mower, fly to destination. This whole thing is a joke. Hey I planted over 500 trees on my property about 30 years ago. Anybody out there want to but some carbon credits from me ??

I have seen the video going around of Obama swearing that no increase of taxes for middle income citizens. How many times did we hear during the campaign that only people whose income was $250,000 or more would have their taxes raised. Of course, there was the voices that said that it could never happen. There was the voices that said if you just tax the rich it would stunt economic growth as it would discourage investment which would decrease jobs.
My oh my....
