LEAD the country into recession? We've BEEN in a recession...without $10 trillion in government borrowing/spending, we'd be in a major depression. The whole "recovery" was fake, bought with borrowing $1.5 trillion a year.

Anyway--
Here's my favorite part of the speech that helps people like us:

"Trump presented his pledge to repeal the estate tax, worth an estimated $25bn a year, as a boon for the working class, but it only applies applies to estates larger than $5.45m for individuals, or $10.9m for married couples – in effect, people like himself and his children."

Now I will be able to give my kids the $11 million I've been saving up.
What century did you just come from? $5 million is nothing when you look at a family farm. Shoot, a home in a big city will cost you that much. Why should the gov. take your property when you pass? I have nothing but disdain for Democrats because of their belief that anyone that is better than them should share their earnings. That is NOT American. That is childish and selfish.

If you believe this, you really are in a world of your own, but I do see you have a few followers here. Without "W's" tax cuts, and Obama's extension of them, and the unfunded wars, we wouldn't have had to borrow 10 trillion. The problems didn't start on 1/20/09. Keep trying to convince open minded people that was the case. History will prove you wrong, but who gives a damn about history. We know that all history is rigged.

You are being played like a fiddle. Where do get your numbers from only Fox News? I don't think that they would go as far as to state $5 million is nothing for a family farm.

The average family farm is worth 600 to 800 thousand dollars, and very few exceed 1.2 million. In 2013, 20 small businesses, and small family farms estates nationwide owed any estate taxes. These figures came from a government tax agency.

When Trump is throwing out there eliminating estate will help small businesses, and family farms, he is full of it. 20 in an entire year would have benefitted.

You are welcome. One thing, you have to careful of. I had to apply for a home equity loan to give my other daughter a down payment on the house. I had to provide the bank with proof that my daughter was making the mortgage payments, which she was. Therefore, the loan got approved.

I will be on my other daughter's mortgage also. We will have to see how they consider my first mortgage responsibility. It would be more expensive due to federal income tax to take the down payment out of 401(k) plan, but you do for one you have to do for the other. I don't need any family wars.

Again many thanks for the info . You make excellent points and helping the next generation is the greatest gift .
I feel the same way about education . I have made certain that my 2 daughters received the best education possible from Elementary School thru College .
It wasn`t easy especially in the early years when I was young and working my way up .

B.S.! A single family home in the suburbs of a sizable city will cost you a million. It appears that it is you that's being played. Played by liberal media. Shoot, my daughter got over $600K for her townhouse in Virginia two years ago.

Well, when she deficits what she paid plus the money spent for upgrades and the $500 capitol gains credit. She owes zip, nada.

Most farms barely get by, they are heavily mortgaged, having to buy expensive equipment. Horse farms like in Ocala are owned by the wealthy who make their money elsewhere, like the Morse Family. That is who trump is talking about. Tax breaks for the rich.

Who cares? It's their money, not the government's. Why does it bother you what someone else does with their money? Aren't you doing OK?
