Lou Dobbs made announcement on tonight's show that it was his last on CNN. Think he will wind up on Fox News Channel?

I hope so. I heard he was having talks with FNC, but don't know if that is true.

highest bidder.
Having spent a week with him on a cattle drive in North Dakota I can tell you he is much, much more than many the top level "readers" in communications today. Too bad people moving from one employer to another can't be viewed like ball players going to the highest bidder...without opposition splattering. btk |

No, I think he's hoping for a Dobbs/Palin ticket in 2012. Wow! What a "brain trust" that would be! ![]() |

CNN created the concept of 24-hour news coverage and for years had no competition. Now it is fourth tailing Fox News, MSNBC and CNBC. Lou Dobbs has been a major part of the mix for years. His ratings have declined, but no-where near as fast as those for Anderson Cooper, Larry King and Campbell Brown. CNN has fallen to the point that in some prime time weeks its ratings have fallen behind HLN. Lou Dobbs loss will drive those ratings even lower.
Lou Dobbs may be controversial, but he was better than anyone else at CNN at pulling in an audience. While trying to maintain that it reported the news in an unbiased fashion, it earned the nickname of the Clinton News Network through its strong support of liberal policies. CNN espoused the views of its founder – Ted Turner. It’s clearly time for CNN to wakeup and start a top-to-bottom housecleaning. Today more people are watching FNC than all the other news networks combined. CNN needs to look at what is being done right by FNC and what they are doing wrong. To date, they have been developing cute phrases such as tea ******* and birthers along with unquestioning adoration of liberal icons such as Al Gore. Until they get hosts who will ask tough questions, they will continue to become more and more irrelevant |

Clearly we do not watch the same CNN. Whenever something happens, they have a panel composed of both sides to discuss it.
In my opinion, Lou Dobbs is a pompous, self-righteous blow-hard, that is as far from an Independent as possible. I have not looked up the ratings, but it doesn't surprise me that FNN has high ratings. I even tune in at times. Much like Jerry Springer. It's like watching a train wreck. FNN is indeed the "gapper's block" of cable news. ![]() |

No, not at all. Wrong again. I loved Tim Russert and still miss him on Meet the Press.

'If a tree falls in the Forest and no-one is around to hear it does it make a noise?', is a well known philosophical question. In the case of CNN, the question is, "If you send out the news over cable and no-one watches, was there picture, sound and information?'
CNN has lost 68% of its audience because it provides a product that few want. Should it change to providing a product that people are willing to watch or should it simply go out of business? The loss of Lou Dobbs is a real step towards the latter choice. I also miss Tim Russert on Sunday mornings. That was my usual start for a lazy Sunday AM. |

Jon Stewart pokes a lot of fun at CNN. He's roasted them for costantly letting people in a "debate" make some wild statement or crazy accusation and then, instead of asking a followup or asking for an explanation, they say "well, we're out of time have to leave it there". This is a *24/7* channel - they have nothing BUT time. It's particularly amusing/tragic to see them cut away from a health care debate to go to the latest "entertainment news".
On top of that, CNN seems to be begging it's viewers to do it's job with their constant "Tell us what YOU think.." line that I've seen a lot of on those occasions when I've watched. |
