Default Is the Earth Warming or Cooling?

The answer is yours to pick by selecting your starting and ending points. Look at this site: http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate...1122008_pg.gif

As can be easily seen, if you go from 1985 to 2000 you will see global warming – the first two decades being the tail end of the little ice age and the last ten a periodic peak. If you choose to go from 1920 to 2000, there is very little change. 1934 to 1970 shows global cooling, and then 1970 to 2000 shows global warming.

The last ten years show cooling at the alarming rate of 1 degree Celsius per decade. If this rate were to continue, we would enter the next ice age by 2040. For information purposes, October 2009 was the third coldest on record. Do I believe that we will be entering the next ice age by 2040? No. However, I am aware that based upon the history of the climate cycles on earth, we are closer to the end of this interglacial period than we are to the beginning, some 18,000 years ago. The earth growing warmer is a much less serious problem than growing colder.

Monday, Wednsday and Friday the globe is warming. Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturday the globe is cooling. Sunday, God plays golf.
