Last Friday, President Obama issued an executive order giving the POTUS the authority to completely take over all forms of communication in the U.S. in the case of a national emergency. That includes ALL forms of communication--radio, TV, cable, internet, even short wave radio.
Now the fact that virtually everyone agrees that centralized control of communications is necessary in times of national emergency, for well over a year the Congress has been holding hearings and arguing with one another about whether or not to give the POTUS any kind of authority without their oversight and direction. They were no closer to drafting legislation now than they were when they started the hearings during the 111th Congress. So Obama took the bull by the horns and issued an order. At least someone in Washington had the cajones to do something widely recognized as necessary. The Congress wasn't ever going to make up its mind. Some will say that it's just another power grab by a president seeking czar-like power over all aspects of our lives. But of course, there are two sides to every story. If Congress won't act on things, then I'm glad we have a system that permits someone to do something. So who doesn't like what Obama did? Bucco, where are you when we need you? |

Actually, this is quite embarassing. I saw RICHIELIONs post on the UN and the guns this was the first thing that came to my mind. Now, I responded with a very short note (Clue 1 that I was distracted) and in my house at the time were 3 other women other than my woman and for some unknown reason they required my mental attendance in their conversation and thus while I had my laptop cranking, I was unable to give it is proper due. Actually, not sure I find much fault in it...I saw in I think on Drudge last week and I think I am ok with it. I ask you if you saw MORNING JOE today and note my post on the gentleman from Esquire...I think that at least YOU would understand my intent in the post anyway.....most did not get it. And while I have your "attention" , did you notice someone other than me brought up Alinsky and I stayed out of it and simply responded to other posts and also found out another thing that embarassed me. I am sure you recall over the last 4 years, how many time I may have mentioned or at least someone did about Secy Clinton writing a thesis on him and how it was "sealed"...it has been unsealed. Ok.....nice to see you again, and hope you will soon post one of your great detailed jobs on the economy because I am seeing very little hope and a lot of politics. |

And oh yeah, there are certainly enough "new" responsibilities to require the creation of whole new departments and lots of new federal hiring. Maybe not too bad an idea in an economy where the job creators aren't investing and creating new jobs. And all because Congress isn't doing its job. |
