Figmo says "Since the vast majority of CCW holders never get any training on how to react in an emergency situation and most likely would not hit the target anyway due to excitement and stress, please go for the cellphone camera and 911 and leave the rest to the trained soon to arrive officers of the law."

This sounds as though the concealed weapons permits are freely given out with little regard to how to use the weapon in an emergency situation. I would think the only reason to carry a weapon would be for an emergency situation. Figmo gives good advice here and makes a good arguement for NOT carrying a weapon in public places such as Lake Sumter Landing or Spanish Springs.

I do not carry but am relieved that there are people who do carry. If some drug crazed kid or adult was to start shooting people at random, I would like an armed person to put an end to the carnage.

If most who carry guns can't hit their target anyway it may just increase the carnage. But hell, it's worth a try.

I still say that having people carrying guns is a deterrent. People outside of The Villages know that many here are carrying. I could be wrong but I do know that thieves will avoid places that have a hint of danger or even a large dog.

I have said from the beginnning, those that chose to carry should get the necessary training of what to do in an emergency and how to hit the target that you are aiming at unstress. Sadly, not many do. But according to the Second Amendment everyone, other than those whose with mental problems, felons, etc., who have lost the right to own a firearm, can get a permit to carry in most of the states. They don't get the necessary training to use one under stress. The same as most of the police officers in this nation. You would be surprised at how many can not shoot or want to learn to shoot. Did you know that cops have killed more innocent bystanders that holders of CCWs. That is a sad note on the part of our law enforcement personnel. Never did I say NOT to carry in LSL or SS or anyplace that it is legal to carry. That is each persons responsibility to determine that for themselves. What you have to know is when and how and where to use lethal force if you are forced into that situation.

If someone started shooting on the squares, I would diffenently want to have my firearm with me. As in the vast majority of these situations, at the first sign of resistance the shooter, eithers, retreats or takes their own life, therefore saving a bunch of lives.

So in closing, don't ever state something that I have not stated. I did not make a point to NOT carry on the squares, I just stated what I would have done, not what could have been done or what was done by someone else.

I keep my training up todate, I shot under stress and I practice. That is what an instructor does, as well as a competitive shooter. Would I have done anything different that I said in my last post, nope, still the best weapon that you have in this case, is your cellphone camera and 911, your life nor your loved ones are in danger at this time.

Anyone who wants to learn to shoot should contact a qualified instructor, get good training, starting with the basics because what you do in training is what you will do under stress.

Will this work, maybe maybe not, just hope that I never have to find out.

Oh, but we (NRA, GOA, other Gun Rights People) have. Some will talk a good anti-gun game, but have you seen any bills come to the floor. Some of the pol criminals need to go home and say see "I tried, but could not get it done. Please send me back so I can keep trying." There are to many good ole libs, who hunt deer with dear ole dad's old 30-30 for them to mess with. But some need to say they are trying to keep coming back to the public trough that they feed at.
