House approves $4.6 Billion Dollar settlement to Indian & Black Farmers
Isn't it great what our caring lame-duck Congress can accomplish. What a great time in our economic history to do it.
Wish they cared about the rest of us; like our grandchildren and their grandchildren who'll have to pay for this. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20101130/...indian_money_8 |

Brings back memories of Shirley Sherrod. What a sham on the American taxpayers. And this Congress just goes on like business as usual.

This is a little off-topic but curious minds want to know!
I had a young guy (early 20's) come into my bank the other day. We were talking about tough times and how I've really had to cut back. He informed me that because he was 1/4 American Indian, the government sends him a check for $10,000 every 4 months for a total of $30,000 a year for the rest of his life. He admitted to me that he just p---es it away because it's just extra money. He has been collecting unemployment for about a year. Could this be true??? |

If he's getting a check and wasting it, I would imagine that he doesn't have the intelligence to know where it comes from.
"The Government" could be any of the following examples: If he's Wampanoag, he could get regular stipends from the tribe that are from the gaming revenues from Foxwoods. The Mohegans operate the nearby Mohegan Sun casino and have similar payouts. Other tribes have similar deals that concern mineral rights. In Florida, Texas and Louisiana, it could be for oil. There are any number of reasons for annual (or quarterly) payouts. But for someone with so cavalier an attitude, I wouldn't take his word for where it *really* came from. |
