Pres Bush did not have to do this as he will never run for office again. But HE WANTED TO HONOR our Men and Women that protect us each and every day.

He took so much bashing by the media and he was a very good president. Now the media is silent when they should be so involved. It has made me not believe a thing they say. In fact I am at the point if they say A, I now believe X. Because I know what they said has to be a lie. So very sad.

I agree. I didn't always agree with everything President Bush did but then that would be expecting an awful lot. I've always knew that he is a good man and even though he doesn't drink, I always thought it would be great to share a beer with him someday. As a retired veteran, I respect his appreciation for my fellow vets and for that, I salute him.

He took the bashing and did not strike back like a girlie girl.

Even now with the current administration using him as a pinata to deflect any criticism they receive, he's does not respond or complain, even when pressed to, but goes about his business and his life with the utmost dignity that should, but does not, shame his contemporaries. The heroes who were under his command know, and the rest of us should know the true measure of this man.

Ditto that Richie. I don't think any of us can appriciate the guilt Mr Bush must feel knowing he is responsible for sending those brave men and women over there.

Well, Bush certainly succeeded in his first couple of points - there wasn't another successful attack. But I personally think Bush got railroaded into some of his more faulty decisions by his advisors and guys like Cheney. I often commented that the intelligent, dynamic Governor of Texas was nowhere to be found. And this wasn't the first time I'd seen this behavior in a politician once he got within sniffing distance of the Presidency (see "McCain, John"). I used to joke that I wondered what was in the water in D.C.
