Lets open a hunting season on the unemployed, grind up their bodies for dog food. That would cut down on the evil ones that don't pay into the TAX pool.

Need a better plan...this one won't benefit me since I don't have a dog. Too busy logging miles on my Cannondale Synapse...870 miles so far this year!
Welcome back!

Even with the mortgage brokers/bankers being crooks, in the end, the home buyer/mortgagee signed the promissory note in light of their income and all other living expenses.

We've met people many times who told us that when they got pre-qualified to buy a home, they were told by lenders that they could afford a house tens and hundreds of thousands more than they KNEW they could afford. They had the sense and morals to not sign onto so much mortgage debt as the lenders were luring them into.

The old adage, "Buyer beware" still applies, in any lender/borrower transaction!

Yes, so I was curious why folks said it was the Governments fault?

I was always taught that meant that you could work and hard, enjoy the fruits of your own labor, and pretty much be master of your own destiny. The government didn't dumb down the loan officer that granted me a loan to buy a home. No banker in their right mind gives out a loan to someone who cannot pay it back...duh.
BTW, I'm starting to wonder what is being inhaled in Virginia this afternoon.
so all those "toxic loans" I heard about came from where? Oh BTW, I didn't want ti imply that had built a home that I couldn't afford or a loan like that. My gripe is it's not worth what it was and I can't sell it and come down there and join the fun.

That's right, the benevolent hand of the government got the better of a FEW people who aren't smart enough to know better...Kinda like most of the democratic social programs that have people suckered in.
How is much different from this-Uncle Sam takes my money to invest for my retirement, because it's soooo nice of the government to look out for little ole me who doesn't have sense to look out for myself. OH, that's right, that's not working out so well either...
