Obama's Federal housing stimulus program allowed prisoners to collect $9.1 million dollars in tax money and another $28 million was paid out to various cheaters including children that collected the stimulus dole. Imagine, kids, little juvenile delinquents collecting on this scheme. The taxpayer funded package was "meant to stimulate the housing market by giving as much as $8000 to new home buyers."

The Obama administration geniuses said we "need better control". Duhhhhhh........

The spin and whitewash is going like this....."A very small number of payments were made to prisoners incorrectly( over 9 million taxpayer dollars) , which the IRS is now taking all steps to recapture and to prevent going forward," the IRS said in a statement. "The IRS will follow up on every instance of an improper prisoner payment and take swift and appropriate enforcement actions." A lot of the defrauders were lifers....what is the IRS going to do.....take away their color tv's? Here's a flash for the Obama geniuses....the money isn't in the Alcatraz IRA where it can be attached....it's back on the street buying guns, drugs and lawyers. Where is Warren Zevon when you need him.

Isn't it reassuring that the IRS considers a 9 million dollar fraud perpetrated by inmates, " a very small number". I am certain the inmates had filing assistance from some other government agency. Obama allows rampant incompetence to go unbridled while he forces a competent, decorated general to retire because he thinks his ego was slighted by someone who worked for the general.

How does it feel to have our wonderful, ever expanding, ever spending, federal government administer your hard earned tax dollars? Makes you wonder what the real number is if they admit to $30 million down the tube.

This is being done through an agency that has been around for quite a long time that initially was to insure that phone service in certain areas was affordable.

I mentioned the cellphone program in a post quite awhile back Bucco. It was in a post about the approximately $24 billion the government is going to spend to make sure everyone has access to the high speed Internet. Villages Kahuna and djplong raked me over the coals for even questioning such a righteous, educational and jobs creating opportunity.

I apologize to you BK, and will try and find that post to see exactly what folks can say to actually support giving FREE CELL PHONES to people on welfare. Next is free televisions to be able to stay up to date on current events, free computers to check for jobs, free cars for travel to interviews, AND a few extra free dollars for lunch !

No, BK, I "raked" (your words, not mine) you over your confusion between giving someone ACCESS to high-speed internet and providing the service. The program was to make sure there's a line running outside every house, not to pay for everyone to be hooked up to it. It was simply correcting what was a common misconception about the scope of the program.

Now, about the cell phones... Does anyone see the problem with this quote:

Umm. Life-line landlines are cheaper, for one. And we already have laws for that. (At least we do in NH) but flat tires and disabled vehicles? If you can afford a car, you can afford a cell phone!

My cousin is going through hard times. About the only thing she CAN afford is her cell phone because that's her lifeline trying to find better work! My mom, who lives on next to nothing in rural Indiana has a cell phone because they're so cheap!

Here's a thought.. How many people spend how much on cigarettes but get a free cell phone?
