I must say I am impressed this morning....
we have evolved from last months comments by Obama, something to the effect....we have to pass this bail out bill "quickly....the economy is so much worse than anticipated if we don't, the economy may never recover".....to this mornings statements the economy is sound from Obama to Brenanke saying he can see the end of it this year.
My conclusion....the on the job training reality is starting to set in. Learning what to say or not say. That the fear factor modus operandi was doing considerably too much damage here at home as well as abroad. And I do also believe the administration (hopefully) realizes you can't sell the sky is falling to the 92% still gainfully employed and the 94% who are still in their homes and paying their mortgages. And lastly but certainly not least....POLITICS.... BTK |

Quote:
First, there is a certain percentage of the population you can scare into anything. Second, there is another percentage of the population who isn't afraid, because their self-reliance confidence is high. Third and last, there is a remaining percentage of the population who doesn't care either way, are apathetic to everything around them, and thus remain blissfully content that everyone else will do all the problem identification, worrying and problem solving. For a politician to be successful, s/he needs to collar the votes from either Group One or Two above, and just better-than half of the votes from Group Three (who may or may not even vote!). For a politician to remain in office, they need to alternate between getting the votes from Group One in one election, then Group Two the next election, and so on and so on. The politician needs to show how they changed fear into courage during his/her term, otherwise, s/he becomes vulnerable. |
