They keep calling for compromise, but how can you have compromise when one side says raise the debt limit and the other side says Do not raise the debt limit......there is no room for compromise........one side has to back down and in the case it was the Republicans.......they caved and I hope they all get voted out.

Default It's just a Civil War all over again...

..."Brother against Brother"...Republican vs. Democrat vs. Teapartier... but it's not about North and South anymore, it's East and West...depending upon what side of the "Aisle" your seated on.

These idiots cannot get anything done towards improving the situation we're facing today, for the fighting, bickering, backstabbing and "ME ME ME" inmature mentality that they are famous for...and have been forever.

If this hint of a "Civil War" is not resolved soon it will escalate into...you guessed it...the next Revolutionary War! The American people will be fighting for Independance from their very own government. Sounds pretty damn socialist to me!...if not dictatorial at the least ! Our personal freedoms are being stripped away at an ALARMING rate !

History has a way of repeating itself! This is EXACTLY how and why the Roman Empire fell. 100's of years of this very same thing we are witnessing today, here...resulted in it's collapase in less than a decade.

A decade from "Riches to Ruin"...BUT...it took 100's of years to lay the groundwork.

Default You're welcome!

From Phil Loper: Here's how many Republicans Senators voted to raise the debt ceiling each time it came up for a vote since 1997.
1997: 55
2002: 31
2003: 50
2004: 50
......2006: 51
2007: 26
2008: 34
2008: 33
Then Barack H. Obama Obama was elected.
2009: 2
2009: 1
2010: 0

Information on the Debt Ceiling....

Only one other country in the world has a debt ceiling...

For anyone who might be confused.. This isn't a one party country... You don't walk out in the middle of the debate!

Comments from a friend of mine who used to live here and now lives in Brazil...

"We are no without our share of government scabs. However, we do have a great government health plan that works well enough that it gave me a $60,000 heart operation after the hospital turned their nose up at the insurance company that Cat stuck us with. The health plan has its flaws but the fact that I can write this kind of puts me on the side of a goverment run health care plan. BTW, people that want next day service buy their own insurance."

A poll of how the people feel regarding this whole debacle!

As I said in my first comment... It doesn't matter what our opinion is. For crying out loud... do some research. If you disagree, find something to back it up. Maybe we can all learn something here... but not just with an opinion.

But like I said... I'm just a dumb blond... what do I know????

It doesn't matter if you are Democrat, Republican or whatever......, is Congress really in touch with us?

The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971... before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.

Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land . .. . all because of public pressure.

I'm asking each person to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.

In three days, most people in the United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

1. Term Limits.

12 years only, one of the possible options below.

A. Two Six-year Senate terms

B. Six Two-year House terms

C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

2. No Tenure/No Pension.

A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when s/he is out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.

All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congress can purchase its own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the rest of the American people.

7. Congress must abide equally by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congress are void effective 1/1/12 .

The American people did not make this contract with Congress. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves.

Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people, then it will only take three days for most people (in the US) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

LET'S FIX CONGRESS!!! If you agree, pass it on.
Shouldn't this be on Political?

Yes, the majority of the American people - so say the polls - agree that taxes should be raised on those making over $250,000. The Republicans need to get their act together and eradicate the Tea Party hostage takers. BTW, Reagan raised taxes 8 times. And, who made Grover Norquist the King anyway? I'm a Republican and Reagan would be ashamed of what has happened to his party!

I own a small business and I'm ready to pay back this country for my success in the form of taxes - in addition to all the volunteer work I do. We need to get this country moving again - so Republicans need to stop complaining and start compromising.

How about "paying back this country" by offering additional jobs to people in your small business?

To me, it seems that anyone who thinks income earners and small business owners making $250,000 are "rich" and "should pay more" don't know what it costs to employ people.

Most of those elected in 2010 ran on a platform of stopping spending and no more taxes. They were elected by the people in their home districts. Now you want them to go against what they were elected to do by the people they represent? I disagree.

Congress is set up to be a representative of the people who elect them. And when they go to Washington and do something different, that is wrong. If my congressman runs on a specific platform and I vote for them and they win, I expect them to follow the principals they ran on and vote that way to represent the majority of the people in their district who were the reason they won that election. To go to Washington and do something different is wrong and they should be removed from office.

I completely disagree with the policies of Obama. However I do respect the fact that he told us during the campaign what he was going to do. He told us he was going to redistribute wealth. He told us he wanted to raise taxes. He told us he wanted to pass national health care. I personally do not want any of those things. But he won. To get there and do something different would be wrong. Same with those elected to congress. Do what you say you were going to do when you ran for the office.

Outrage and demigoguery is easy

Solutions are difficult

The problem is that our representatives are pulled so strongly to the extremes, both left and right, that they cannot come together for common sense solutions for most of us that live near the middle. The extremists vote in the primaries and decide who represents their party, leaving the middle out in the cold.

BINGO We didn't send them down there to "compromise" We sent them there to vote for OUR principles.
