Jimmy Carter with the help of NBC plays the race card
Jimmy carter stated tonight he is ashamed of the taking to the streets of Americans who are in essence whites protesting a black man in the WH.
As I said in another post it is the charge of the Obama supporters to demean anybody who utilizes their first amendment right to speak out against what they disagree with (finally it is happening)....and then to have one of the most unpopular Presidents in US history throw his hat into current day politics offering his out in LEFT field dissertation on what he thinks these people are intending.....racists? Just goes to show how far some party faithful are willing to go (that being Carter and NBC). Who asked him? Them? Shame on both of them...the man has no idea what the he is talking about....just like all the other current day race mongers. btk |

Isnt that amazing !!! It is hard to believe. I tried during the campaign to pu that stuff aside but it just comes up each and every time there is any kind of pressure on this man or his administration (recall J Jackson Jr in South Carolina, etc.). I had not heard about Carter's remarks and it is shocking and scary...to me it is demeaning to the President ! |

I just read that Chris Matthews made a similair comment and a few others.
WHAT IS THIS WORLD COMING TO ? To anyone who still reads this forum, if you are not outraged by this stuff, you certainly should be. Why do I have to be careful of what I say about this President in fear of being called a racist ? WHY ???? Why can I be called anything anyone wants to call me and that is ok, but legit criticism is labeled racist ? As much as I am and was opposed to Barrack Obama's election based on idealogy and background, I was a bit thrilled that we, in this country, had finally turned the corner and ignored color. NOW....I am so angry of what is happening..it is like a nightmare. We cannot criticize anything anymore because if we do it MAY be construed as racist...we can not march and protest as MANY MANY MANY others have done or we are racist ??? How can anyone, as was done on CNN last night as I read, make any statements in anyway about race as it relates to those folks who came to Washington to March ? |

Carter Knows of What He Speaks
Bucco wrote: To anyone who still reads this forum, if you are not outraged by this stuff, you certainly should be.
Sorry. I'm not outraged. There is truth to what Carter says. If you listen to his actual comments, he was not saying that any criticism of Obama reflects racsim, and to represent otherwise is to distort the facts. It is clear that there are elements that are exploiting the discontent of "conservatives" to advance racist views. Hey- let's call it as it is- on both sides. When you see posters that say, "Balack Obama" or hear that 47% of self-defined "conservatives" still think that the President was born in Kenya- duh- BLACK AFRICA, or you hear a congresswoman refer to a critic of Obama (Thomas Sowell) in terms of "Even a black man disagrees with his policies." Then you are talking forms of racism- you are basing your opinions and beliefs based primarily on race. So, yes, many Americans will be offended by Jimmy Carter's placing so many white eggs in one basket. But he is a man of the deep south who grew up in a culture so steeped in segregation and discrimination that he can call a spade a spade (and NO that is not a racial slur- it refers to cards!). This might offend many who are lumped in the "right-wing" with avowed racists. But you know what they say..."If you lie down with dogs..." |

BTW- How many years have we heard liberals and progressives "lumped" into the category of "Socialist" or "Communist"? How many years have we heard right-wingers claim that anyone who protests against a president is un-American and a traitor? That people from "Massachusetts" are not real American? That somehow people with an education, or working in the media, or bankers or academics- all codewords for "Jews"- control the world?
Was this any more factual than what Carter says? The foot is on the other hand, as they say! |

Jimmy Carter was the nicest guy to become president.
Jimmy Carter was the worse president we have ever had. Jimmy Carter is on his way to becoming the worse Ex president ever. Racist seems to be a very important word in the liberal debating vocabulary. When liberals fail in intellectual argument the first thing that say is "What did Bush ever do?" When that fails to silence the opposition, they scream "RACIST." Yoda |

Like the bible thumping religious nuts ? Look, ANY name calling whether it be in retalitaion as you suggest or whatever is not only stupid, a waste of time, non productive, immature. This country gave this president a HUGE popularity on all the polls and to even suggest that race has anything to do with criticism of the stupid things being done is just plain insulting !! |

I think the terminology "lumping" is so far out of reality
it borders being a lie. The attempt to "lump" people because of their party, their color or anything else is a convenient mechanism for the prejudiced thinkers.
And of course nothing but emotionally based, hence the lumping must soothe the belief. It is also a hypocritcal approach? For example why is it OK to talk about the This or That Black Caucus? If any group of whites ever held a this or that White Caucus all the lumpers out there would be raising the race card. In day to day life it is not a non issue....people are different for different reasons....only in the elitists ranks, do they have an ever present tuned eye and ear for an opportunity to play the race card....and ONLY when to their advantage. Another example? When Pelosi accepted that Wilson apologized to the President, she accepted it as sufficient. But the elitist blacks in congress said no it is not alright, Wilson was being racist in his remarks. So the admonishment was created. Now don't ya just wonder what would happen if all the white elitist in congress decided the apology was sufficient. Rationalizing Carter as qualified because he is a deep Georgia Southern boy is itself is a racist qualifying statement. The whole thing is nothing more than an effort once again to demean the numbers of Americans who are finally getting fed up enough to stand and be counted. And in so doing, the opposition, the media, the black elitists, et al attempt to "lump" folks in a manner to discredit the objective of those protesting. It is a reverse discrimination that is going so far in the wrong direction that even to point that out will earn the label racist or being "lumped" into some convenient opposition category. Like everything else the race card has become a political tool that many of us are just sick and tired of hearing. The promoters of the racial issue are going to create a very undesirable back lash among the true Americans (any color, any religion, any party) that DO NOT see things in black and white (yes PUN intended!!!!!!!!!!!). btk |

THAT I already said....here is the difference.... I disagree with Nancy Pelosi and I am NOT a racist...just disagreeing. I dont call her names; simply disagree with her policies. I disagree with the President on the SAME ISSUE....now I AM a racist because HE is black. I dont call him names: simply disagree with his policies. Not sure what Chelsea wants addressed or by whom...but I suppose that you are justifying the race card by others in the past saying Dems are unamerican which is justified by calling Bush or booing him duringa state of the union address which is justified by....and the list then goes back to whatever year you want to start at ! THIS IS FAR DIFFERENT AS I pointed out.....if I said the same thing about a president who is white it is ok, just a disagreement, but if I say that about this president I am a racist. I dont put this in the same class as what you are talking about although I understand what you are talking about ! |

While all of your allegations are specious, the one I highlighted is particularly so. This is a lie that has been repeated so often by the left that some people like yourself apparently believe it. If this were true, you should easily be able to find numerous examples of high-profile people who make the claim that anyone protesting against a president is un-American or a traitor. So, please list the names and quotes of Republicans who made such a claim.
