Washington DC used to be a real mess before the compressed work schedules came in to practice. Every agency used to get off at 4:30 and all the streets were all clogged up completely with going home traffic. Now, with the compressed schedules, the departures are staggered between 3:30 and 6 pm and it is a lot easier getting around after work.

I find it humorous to hear the Villages residents talk about heavy traffic during Snowbird season and it is a pure joy for me to drive around here compared to Washington DC traffic.
Amen to that. We spent 20 years on the D.C. Beltway and I395

Just wondering what your opinion is on the rest of the original post. We already know how you feel about praying in schools:

It's just that now you can't force or intimidate me or my kids to pray in school.
But what are your thoughts on:

Quote:
Since we can't pray to God, can't Trust in God and cannot post His Commandments in Government buildings, I don't believe the Government (Federal, State and Local) and its employees should participate in the Easter and Christmas celebrations which honor the God that our government is eliminating from many facets of American life.

I'd like my mail delivered on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter. After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the" US Supreme Court to be in session on Christmas, Good Friday, Thanksgiving & Easter as well as Sundays." After all, it's just another day.

I'd like the Senate and the House of Representatives to not have to worry about getting home for the "Christmas Break." After all it's just another day.

I'm thinking that a lot of my taxpayer dollars could be saved, if all government offices & services would work on Christmas, Good Friday & Easter. It shouldn't cost any overtime since those would be just like any other day of the week to a government that is trying to be "politically correct."

In fact....

I think that our government should work on Sundays (initially set aside for worshipping God....) because, after all, our government says that it should be just another day....
I guess I would just like to hear a government employees' position on the above thoughts. Especially yours, since you feel the need to comment on and dispute others' postings about religion and our country.

Please...I would love to hear your opinion.

Ceejay,
A heartfelt thanks for your excellent post. I (like many career educators) believe that there is a strong correlation between the increase in crimes committed by children and the erosion of the Judeo/Christian values no longer being extolled in our public schools today.

Keeping America a "Judeo/Christian" country is a battle we must not lose.

So how does that correlate with the overall DECREASE in crimes?

One thought is that it' possible that juvenile crime is just reported more. Back when I was young, if you shoplifted, you were held at the store and your parents came and got you. Nowadays you really do get arrested.

Inner city crime is another matter entirely and I'd pin that more on the disintegration of two-parent families.
