Default Medicare Premiums for 2011

We already know that there wont be a Social Security cost of living increase for 2011. Why haven't we heard about Medicare Premiums for 2011 yet? Last year the premiums for 2010 were announced on October 15, 2009.

Could it be, that we wont hear until after Election Day? Hmmm, I wonder.

Default Medicare Premiums for 2011

Okay the elections are over, when do we get the "good" news about Medicare Premiums for 2011?

According to page 135 of my 2011 Medicare and You manual, it reads:

"At the time of printing those amounts weren't available. However, most people willl continue to pay the same Part B."

I did see that the deductible went from $135 to $155.

My understanding from something I read was that if there was no SS CPI raise there was no Medicare premium change.

Default I got my new premium notice from my part D provider

announcing a 10% increase.
These are the bait and switch providers (they all did it) that came on at one price the first year. The second year was a 60% percent increase...all providers did about the same.
And now the 10% for 2011.

Tis only the beginning.

Default Still wondering

It's been almost a month since my original post and still have not heard what our Medicare Premium will be for 2011.

And as long as I'm still wondering, here's another one that has me puzzled.

All kinds of uproar about the increased airport security, full body scanning and enhanced patting down of passengers..(We used to call that copping a feel), but here's the question. What is being done at airports outside of the US? Have the same measures and technology been employed, or does the TSA think the biggest threat is from folks boarding airplanes in the US. Seems to me the most recent actions took place with cargo and terrorists who boarded planes outside of the US.

Just wondering and still puzzled.

Coming back from Europe 6 weeks ago, we were pre-cleared in Dublin for our flight to Boston. We went through normal security, didn't have to take our shoes off, and a normal interview by ICE. Our passports were checked, we were give a card to fill out (to give to ICE in Boston) and that was that.

Default My Part D Is Up 10%, But....

I don't know about Medicare, but my Part D secondary insurance, provided by one of the "biggies"--United Healthcare--will be going up by 9.9% beginning in January.

I haven't had time yet to examine any erosion in coverages or increases in deductibles or co-pays, but I won't be surprised to find both.

So let's see. The private insurers who were so instrumental in making sure that there was no expansion of government-provided health insurance raised their rates by 10% within months after the healthcare bill they lobbied so extensively and expensively was passed. But the government insurance that nobody wanted still costs about the same.

Hmmm, what's wrong with this picture?

Good to see you back VK !!!

I, also have United and have the same increase received today inthemail.

To answer your last question......what is wrong that it was sold on LOWERING HEALTH COSTS, and it does not address that in any way !

Default My new medicare supplemental coverage for 2011

went up 6%.

The non commodity products and services are steadily eating away at our fixed incomes right along with commodities (oil, gas, sugar etc).

The classic "definition" of inflation does not reflect the true economic impact we are experiencing.....daily.

And today is the least expensive we will have it going forward.
