Does this sound like a U.S. Supreme Court Judge who truly believes that our Constitution is valid; that the framers knew what they were doing and are worthy of respect; and that the longest-standing written Constitution in the world actually has authority?!?!?!????
US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Egyptians: Look to the Constitutions of South Africa or Canada, Not to the US Constitution ("it's very old"......) MEMRI: US Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to Egyptians: Look to the Constitutions of South Africa or Canada, Not to the US Constitution Ummmm....maybe it's just me......but I've always thought that if something has enduring power and outlasts all its counterparts, it was built RIGHT....and BETTER!!!!!!!! |

I wouldn't expect anything less from her. Were you curious enough to look up the constitution of South Africa?

Well Supreme Justice Ginsburg is certainly entitled to her opinion. However she certainly ought not to consider being an ambassador as an alternate career. What a slam to America. She certainly must appreciate the protections afforded under the First Amendment. I have always been amazed that she and Justice anthony Scalia were very close friends given the difference in their political views and views on the US Constitution

Did you actually READ their Bill of Rights in South Africa? I admit that, after #22, it starts getting increasingly left wing. But I did notice, for example, that people have a right to ACCESS to housing - not housing itself (no matter what lefty radicals say, I will never believe that housing *itself* is a "right")

Ironically, Bader Ginsburg makes an astute observation in these comments-"Important as a constitution is, it will mean nothing, unless the people are yearning for liberty and freedom. If the people don't care, then the best constitution in the world won't make any difference. The spirit of liberty must first be in the population."
After that, she is making no sense whatesoever, and appears thoroughout to be showing affects of her advanced age in more ways than one. |
