Default Obama tries to stall troop withdrawal

If Obama tried to stall the withdrawal until after the elections so he could take credit for the withdrawal, it would make him the most dispicable person in the history of politics.

http://www.nypost.com/seven/09152008...150.htm?page=0

This article came out of today's New York Post. The substance of this article is gaining traction. Many of the sources are credible and readliy verifiable.

I said if, but if this report is confirmed, our troops would have been sold out for Obama's political gain and he would not be worthy of being our Commander-in Chief. Just my opinion.

Old news! Obama reported the conversation himself in June of this year. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archi...6/1146192.aspx

Funny, there were no issues with it then. Now there is?

I'm curious to see what kind of firestorm this comment will bring on. I served as an officer in the US Army for 9 years. When a soldier is ordered to carry out a mission they are not "selling out". They are professional warriors following orders from command.

Some of you folks must travel in packs on this board..one posts and the others come in behind to support....

I posted to this thread and said..."This man becomes more scary every day " andthere is certainly enough evidence to support that fear.

Again, as you folks travel around here together and make fun of and call names I am really curious what thrill that must give you !

I NEVER said that the soldiers were selling themselves out!!! Read it again! You know how I feel about our Armed Services as does everyone else here...if you have ever read my posts!! In fact I was just using the words that your friend Cabo was used.....

"I said if, but if this report is confirmed, our troops would have been sold out for Obama's political gain and he would not be worthy of being our Commander-in Chief. Just my opinion. " Cabo

He said it would be ashame if Obama sold them out...if this report was confirmed...that was his opinion....

Mine is that BUSH sold them out...not that they sold themselves out!!! Big difference!

Don't put words in my mouth or turn the ones I did say around please!
Thank you!

Default Not just the troop withdrawal.....

You must all know there are many issues that are in stall mode in Congress awaiting the hopeful win by their candidate....i.e. energy legislation for one.

Once again demonstrating the priority of the party over the needs of America.
And if they don't win the election and they manage to retain their house majority status, they will continue to do what they consistently done....NOTHING!!!!!!

BTK

PS...how about trying to keep the subject of thread ONLY and think/talk/type with a forward view only, hence eliminate all the referencing to past who did what's or said what's or not which never add any value to a discussion.

Normally, when Members of Congress (regardless of party affiliation) go to other countries, they may meet with foreign officials, but the Congresspersons do not conduct themselves in any manner so as to interfere with ongoing foreign relations activities. That is the norm and has been for eons.

Over the next few days there will be more information as to whether there is any truth to the NY Post story, and if so "how much" truth.

If no interference occurred, the story will dissipate as others before it.

If interference is corroborated, it would depict Sen. Obama as either unbelievably naive or extremely self-serving. Neither would bode well.

One DC morning political radio program (WMAL radio) even suggested that, if true, the action could cause (even if remote) the DNC to recommend to Sen. Obama that he withdraw from the campaign, and Sen. Rodham-Clinton may step in as her party's candidate as an alternative. Such a concept makes it interesting in postulating who brought the matter to the forefront in the first place.

Either way, until the matter is corroborated or dismissed, it's just political noise during what's becoming a messy campaign.

I'm not a follower/member of the Obama caravan, but I've been around in DC long enough to see/hear this sort of stuff before. Both parties have a history of half-information and innuendo, and both parties are wrong to engage in it. So, before everyone wants to get out the tar-and-feathers, let's have facts versus rumor. There's enough press not biased into the O/B campaign to insure the matter will get enough investigation for final resolution as to its veracity.

Default Please google

When I saw "New York Post" I thought, isn't that paper similar to the National Enquirer? I know its the source of the gossip column "Page Six." Not being sure, I googled then checked Wicpedia. Please go there and read the entire article about this "paper." Some info I found there:
  • "The NY Post is known for its headlines, sensationalism, blatant advocacy and conservative bias."
  • The NYP shapes news to suit Rupert Murdoch.
  • The NYP allows its editorial positions to shape its story selection and news coverage.
  • The NYP (according to a 2004 survey by Pace University) was rated the least credible major new outlet in NY.
  • The NYP has altered photos and presented the edited version as "true", in 2000 declared "Bush Wins!" before the election was over.
  • Made fun of Keith Olbermann when he received what appeared to be an envelope with anthrax in it from an unknown terrorist calling him a "powder puff" for being frightened.
  • Doctored a front-page photo to show the co-chairs of the Iraq Study Group in primate fur under the headline "Surrender Monkeys", alleged there was a sex tape involving a NY radio host then the NYP ran a full page retraction.
  • Referred to Sen. Barack Obama as "Osama". (They apologized later.) Ran a misleading headline (Osama' Mud Flies at Obama) about Obama being Muslim.
  • Endorsed John McCain on September 8, 2008

I'm not sure I will swallow what the NYP prints and say, "Hey, it's a big, NYC paper."

I really don't have a doubt in the world that it did in fact occur. I do remember Obama talking about it earlier this year. It was in a telephone conversation, not face-to-face. There was a lot of discussion about the inappropriateness of the discussion but no argument that what he was saying had a lot of validity given the circumstances at that time.

I thought it took a lot of arrogance for Obama to have had this discussion with any official of Iraq, let alone their President. At the same time, to want to be POTUS takes a lot of arrogance, so I chalked it up to ego. While I didn't approve of the action, I didn't condemn it.

However, if you read the msnbc link I posted, I think you'll see it wasn't a timing ploy for the Dems to get in office to get the credit. It was simply a matter of timing that was feasible for the Iraqis.

I just re-read your post... "What a shame that our troops have sold out for the last 5-6 years!!!" That's exactly what it says. Maybe you meant to say, "have been sold out" . And, who in the world is "my friend Cabo"??? Don't know him, never met him and couldn't quote him. You're not my friend nor my enemy either. I know nothing about your posting history. I do know that the quote that you said you didn't make... you did make.

RS...you are right and I owe you an apology! I did mean to say have been sold out....I also apologize because I actually am so used to someone else on here posting and I misread who wrote this to me...I just assumed it was someone else and before I even bothered to read the name on the post...I was typing away! So I apologize for the statement...I did not nor would I EVER think something like that of our troops. My brother just landed in Iraq last week. I have two in the Marines right now. Again....I humbly apologize.

I will slow down my reactions next time....and re-read my postings prior to sending them! Yikes...it is a good thing I am not running for office!! Imagine what we would write about me!! LOL

I do hope you except my apology....for my mis-typing....and my yelling at you!
