Let's make this discussion generic. Do you agree or disagree that what is of paramount importance is that the country establishes a voting system that cannot be manipulative at least to a point where we really have one vote per citizen, an alive one at that. We criticize third world countries for their rigged voting systems and ours is not much better.

Perhaps if some are against a photo ID we could go the way of Iraq and dip voters thumbs in hard to wash ink to identify that they have already voted.

having said that do you agree or disagree that a candidate should be entitled to district's electoral votes he/she earned rather than handing over the enteire state votes to a single candidate?

I want to be proud and confident in our voting system and will agree to changes such as the photo ID that protect its legitimacy. I also agree that a candidate is entitled to the electoral votes for the district he/she wins because its more grass roots.

Walk me through this, Rubicon.

Why do you believe that? I don't think I agree with that statement. Am I missing something?

I do not ever remember showing my ID before I voted.

Sinclair Lewis once said in It Can't Happen Here:
"When fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross."

Whose political party does this more closely resemble, mine or yours? Fascism in Europe made unions illegal and punished dissent severely.

Of course there are intelligent Republicans. When you watch FOX, ask yourself these questions; Does tort reform really benefit me, or limit my options? Will the recognition of global warming cost corporations money? What other opinions are FOX forming for me that will save big business big money? Putting down trade unions? Calling Social Security a "Ponzi Scheme"? Forcing the states to buy voting machines that leave no paper trail?

First off, who cares what Sinclair Lewis says.
There is very little, if any, man made Global Warming. Real scientists recognize that the earth is cycling warm and cooling for centuries.
Social Security is a Ponzi Scheme. It will tumble when 78 million Baby Boomers retire.
Trade Unions have served their purpose and are now just thugs.

Anything else?

There can be no plausible reason for objecting to the showing of valid identification in order to vote, which is the most sacred privilege and duty of citizenship.

The only logical reason to object to this is to want to somehow scam the system.

What other reason can there be? I find it hard to believe that there's an argument to this being a requirement to vote.

And if I may ask, who is this "they" you are talking about? "They also closed several agencies..." The state legislators?

Ok ..... here is what really happened to a 96 year old women in Tennessee. Don't think this is a socialist paper.... This women has voted in every election but one since she was eligible to vote. She has never driven. She was denied the voter ID card.

It's annoying when someone makes you think outside of your neat little box isn't it?

1. Sinclair Lewis won the Nobel prize in Literature. To ignore what he said is nothing to be proud of.
2. Real scientists?
3. The politicians are cowardly enough to make the wealthy minority pay for the SS benefits of the many. We found the money for IRAQ, we will find it for SS.
4. In the 1950s 37% of the private work force was unionized. That percentage is down to 8 now. Benefits and salaries are sliding downward with the percentages.
5. The real thugs bundled sub-prime mortgages into packages and sold them, and then took out insurance against their own products. Is that consistent with fiduciary responsibility?

I think that your responses are regurgitated FOX news reports, and not indicative of independent thought.
You reacted in a predictable manner to every one of the topics that I brought up.

Wait! You missed one. Why are you in favor of tort reform?

Liberals are so condescending. I wonder why. Must be their false sense of superiority or their lack of knowledge?

1) Obama won nobel peace prize, nuff said about nobel, huh?
2) Many scientists believe the activities of our sun controls our climate cycle.
All planets in our solar system are warmer now, Coincidence?
3)We have not found any money, we borrow 42 cents of every dollare we spend.
4)The correlation of wages and unions is bogus.
5) Fannie Mae with the help of Chris Dodd and Barney Frank are responsible for the melt down.

I have plenty of independent thought and I think that there are people with pompous attitude that must come form PBS,NBC, CNN.

You should take your own advice and think outside of the box.
