The Constitutional Amendment XVII needs to be repealed and the two Senators appointed by the States Governor as what was done before passage of this amendment. That gives the States power to replace any Senator that is not looking out for his/her state as the Governor is replaceable by the voter in their state either by recall or election.

Amendment XVII

Passed by Congress May 13, 1912. Ratified April 8, 1913.

Note: Article I, section 3, of the Constitution was modified by the 17th amendment.

The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. the electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.

When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, that the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.

This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution.

DAleMN, if we, the voters don't get the the debt under control and the entitilements to those that don't work or won't work and don't stop giving everything away to the illegals you will not have to worry about health care for our grand kids. We will be a third world country with nothing to offer.

I take it that you might not have visited to many 3d world nations. Might want to schedule a trip to one just to see how the "haves" and the "haves not" really live.

Will really be educational for you and your family and its not only the Repub, the Dems are also guilty.

My question is why do these people we elected to such things? Is it just a power trip for them and they feel it is justified? Personally, I think it is abuse of public trust. I think other people don't care what politicians do in their private lives.

How about some viewpoints from this forum. You can see I included both Republican and Democrat sleazeballs so this is non-partisan.
Most people don't care what politicians do in their private lives. They do care about what they do with the money associated with their position that those same "most people" have been required to pay to support the necessities of running a government. The politicians' dallying is not a necessity. Those same "most people" do care about integrity.

DaleMN you DFLers are tough. I want to let you know that Ann coulter's column was edited from its original publication. I don't know who did it but ruined the entire piece.

Anyway you are well aware of the fact that ryan Plan actually reinforces , preserves medicare and that it will not be a drag on the economy. I have to stop because I have to water my plants.

Sorry, I cannot buy that for one moment. It may reinforce the insurance companies profits.
Watering plants is good for the soul.

DaleMn, Medicare is a tough nut. I have no problems with insurance comapnies involved in medicare as they are now with the Advantage Plan. I also am in favor of profits. I agree companies like Goldman Sachs give capitalism a bad name. However, you will find that insurance companies are not making the kind of profits that put off most of us. The government model is not conducive to profitable enterprises. I would rather see a plan like Ryan's. As is always the case , the plan offered by ryan will be modified a number of times if or when it is submitted for final review.

I certainly do not want a 15 member panel making medical decisions for medicare receipients.

Let me end by acknowledging that I sort of resent the hypocrisy of Congress. People have been forced to pay into social security and medicare for years and now these hypocrites call it an entitlement. Perhaps hey use that term because they have felt entitled to raid these fund for years to feed their pet projects. Personally I will not take either a Republican or Democrat

plan at face value. History is witness to their repeated failures.

Our plants are mine to water but my wife's to when it comes to enjoying them

But I heard interesting 'proof' that the picture being talked about this week is at least that of a Democrat. It doesn't stand up for any reason, it leans to the left and it was sent to a *woman*.
Didn't Bill Maher say that on this show??? In any case, that summary is funny as hell.

That's exactly where I heard it.

A line from one of his panelists summed up some of my feelings as well. I forget which one said it but it was "How come the Republicans only care about the deficit when there's a Democrat in the White House?"

I guess you don't consider it sleazy to start a war under false pretenses, a war that killed and maimed thousands of innocents, and cost the country billions of dollars.

Play nice, boys. The Political Sleazeball thread was started as a non-partisan thread just to show that both sides of the aisle have lots of sleazeballs - and I was talking only about personal morality.

As far as I know, GWB was a good morale man when he was President. Also, as far as I know, President Obama is the same. Don't include politics in either case.
