People who speak in absolutes usually appear to me as unintelligent dolts with a poor grasp of the English language. A person doesn't need to engage in Bayesian probabilistic reasoning to arrive at every single belief (in fact, it's too slow and mentally taxing to do so). But it doesn't take a genius to recognize the fact that there are very few self-evident propositions (in fact, one could intelligibly argue, "we probably don't know anything with 100% certainty - including this very assertion, of course).

It just chafes me the wrong way when people speak absolutes and actually believe the statements coming from their lips. I've heard multiple people state (and try to seriously argue) that all generalizations are false.

On the other hand, I have no problem if a person is speaking in absolutes in a joking manner.

Ok...not sure on what front you are defending Trump, but since you question me and my knowledge......

1. I have supplied you with factual reading on the subject, which you obviously have not read.

2. I lived this process in late 50s to early 60's and know it quite well.

3. Because of my exposure, I keep tabs on what I can( obviously minimal) and know how it works.

4. Before you break your smart ass bone, nobody said the President could not do this...EVER. It is simply being pointed out that it is BEYOND highly unusual, and even more "newsworthy" because the country supplying this info, the city it was sourced from, etc was revealed. And it was revealed to Russia, who last time we hated in 2016, they used such info to bomb our allies.
Russia is not our friend, and we should use extreme caution with them. This is not smart and certainly not in the interest of our country.

You have not been here much, let me get you up to speed on Rockface's knowledge:

He is an expert with "50 years experience in the political arena"...

He used to be screen name Bucco on here. He claims he was a republican and criticized Obamma "relentlessly"...

The liberals on here threatened him via PM, he pussed out and left for a while. He came back as Rockface, a liberal, and has been criticizing the GOP for the last year.

With his expert knowledge; in the last election, he decided it would be best to vote for someone that was not even a candidate for president (Dopey Smurf).

He does not feel there has been a good president since Eisenhower, none of the contemporary era presidents are, or have been, good enough for him. It did not matter who got elected, he was going complain non stop about their every move too...

Everyone of his posts are negative, many of them have copy and paste opinions that he agrees with, and feels we need to read it (in bold and red ink).

He has a hard on for Gracie and Rubi...he can't help but comment on each and everyone of their posts - negatively.

He used to be super critical on conservatives forgetting to include a link, I pointed out he was not complaining about the liberals not providing links...

He then changed to being critical on lying, till I caught him lying (he said "honestly, I don't mean to pick on you" to Rubi and then went on to pick on him personally)...and now that obsession has seemed to die down too.

Lately he has been whining about vulgar language. He does not like "locker room talk", I get the feeling he is a girly man...

In short he is just a long winded old fool...
