IMHO no incumbent should be allowed to campaign. They were elected to do a job and if they are off campaigning they are not doing the job. If they are worth a grain of salt they should be able to use the success they have achieved while in office and the voters could use that standard to decide if they want this candidate to continue to represent them. If a incumbent wants to run for a different office than he or she holds at the present time then they need to make a very simple choice. Either forget about the different office or resign so someone else can do the work they were elected to do. Campaigning for a better job while getting paid for not doing the job you were elected to do (sometimes for more than two years) just makes my decision of who I am going to vote for very, very easy.

Yeah Buggy; it's always fun to just read wiseguy remarks instead of thoughtful responses. I'm sure it brightens everyone's day.

Obama is campaigning on our dime and yet he brags about a "billion dollar" war chest. He would be savaged by the media were it anyone else.

You have that right. Imagine Bush traveling around in a government paid for bus and the reaction the media would have taken. A billion dollars and yet Obama finds ways to drain taxpayer's money. Shameful.

Junior Bush did all of his campaigning by Air Force One - not in a bus.
Don't forget there are 2 of the super-high tech busses. One will be used for the Republican candidate to use when one is nominated. |

Why is it OK for Obama to be on the campaign trail?
He can do whatever he wants to do and no one can call him out with valid concerns, without being called a racist! |

One of the jobs of the President is to be leader of his political party. President Obama is the leader of the Democrats and one of the jobs is to raise funds. He is doing an outstanding job - and will keep office in 2012.
The Republicans are just too splintered right now with lines crossed all over the waters. They have to get some party unity going in order to be considered a force. As I have said before, if the Republicans want to win the White House, they quickly have to put Mitt Romney as their candidate and then find someone who is not an extremist - like Caribou Barbie was in 2008 - for VP or the Republicans will lose again. |

Herman Cain has lost all his steam now and the 9-9-9 plan has been taken apart by experts on both the conservative and liberal side. It has been shown to be unfair to the poorer segments with the 9% national sales tax on everything in addition to local, city, and state sales taxes. The dropping of all deductions on Federal income tax including mortagage interest deduction would be a major blow to most people.
Cain is an impressive person but out of his element as a Presidential candidate. |
