The article is somewhat lengthy but a decent summary and rationale.
What it left out is some commentary regarding the democrats that are gravitating toward Trump. Simply put many resonate with what Trump has to say about the establishment. And secondly they just will not vote for an untrustworthy, lying, felonious tired old fashioned politics as usual self centered phony. The American establishment as well as the cronys world wide living off America unjustifiably are fighting a losing battle because for once there is a candidate who is reflecting exactly how many Americans think.....like it or not. I do not particularly like how Trump always feels he has to lash out with so many personal attacks especially when baited in counterpoint. I do think he will bring in much more talent to get the job done than any president in recent history. This unto itself has the establishment in fear as their career positions will be at risk. In a match up between Trump and Clinton it will be a street fight. In the end the one with the most skeletons of concern and vulnerability will be exposed for what she is.....a lying, felonious, self centered, tired and worn out crony politics as usual loser. |

Meanwhile, it was jarring to see a beaming President Obama relaxing at a Cuban baseball game, while grisly photos of the wrecked terminal and dazed, bloodied victims in Belgium were on steady media feed all over the world.
[We have all been through many mass shootings and terrorists attacks. How is it handled in Israel? They clean up the mess, morn, investigate and life goes on. After a while you get numb, sad but true. How have Presidents, including this one react in the past? Did that reaction work before?] Trump’s credibility would be enhanced if he treated the vital immigration issue in general policy terms rather than divisively singling out specific groups (Mexican, Muslim), the majority of whom are manifestly law-abiding. [But that is not the Trump that makes his constituency feel good about themselves. Maybe it's future Trump. He has a reputation for saying what you want to hear. But his first reaction is a wise guy.] Hillary Clinton’s Brussels response was basically boilerplate, calling for solidarity with Europe and playing chess with Trump to paint him as a greenhorn and hothead. Bernie Sanders (whom I support and contribute to) had little to say, beyond conveying condolences to the Belgian people, because foreign affairs have unfortunately remained a sideline for him. [Hillary's] failure of strategy that has proved costly in the long run. [It's true. The old ways of treating terrorism, shock and awe, waterboarding and rounding up everybody that looked suspicious didn't work, why return. I need to research this some more.] Ted Cruz took the prize for dolt of the day, however, with his call for U.S. law enforcement to “patrol and secure Muslim neighborhoods before they become radicalized.” [Why is this considered stupid? Everyone said that the agencies were not sharing information. Now that they are sharing, why is it stupid to patrol and secure any neighborhood? Call it a Muslim gang if that makes it more palatable.] Trump may be raw, crude and uninformed, but he’s also smart, intuitive and a quick study who will presumably get up to passable speed as he assembles a brain trust over the coming months. [Wishful thinking that is not based on political experience. If you don't like Obama because he wasn't prepared how in the world would you like Trump?] Whether Trump can temper his shoot-from-the-hip impetuosity is another matter.[He never has before. There is too much at stake to roll the dice.] But it’s business as usual for tone-deaf party leaders who, barely more than a day after the discovery of Antonin Scalia’s corpse last month, stupidly proclaimed there would be no hearings for an Obama nominee to the Supreme Court. John Kasich: And his skills as a public figure are embarrassingly rudimentary: he blurts, lurches, and waves his arms around like a windmill. He lacks patience, subtlety, and finesse. Not presidential. [Couldn't all that be said about Trump?] Sanders remains too unknown to too much of the electorate, particularly in the South. I will write in Sanders or vote for Jill Stein of the Green Party, as I did in 2012 as a protest against Obama’s unethical use of drones and the racially divisive tone of his administration. [Really? I understand. There is no right answer.] A vote for Bernie Sanders is a vote for the future, [I agree. At least he got 15 minutes of fame. It's a start.] A primary vote for Donald Trump is a rebuke to the arrogantly insular GOP establishment, which if he wins the nomination will lose its power and influence overnight. However, there is one way out to ensure a rational, future-oriented, issues-centered presidential campaign: Democrats, vote for Bernie Sanders! [I didn't really see this opinion coming from the beginning. My opinions are just quick thoughts. Try not to let it turn into another "feeding frenzie. I think it's sad to ask people to read something and feel the need to sugar coat it with it's not too long. Either your are interested in politics or not. Allow others to voice their opinions not just toss the boiler plated insults you see all too often.] |

Maybe there should be another thread;
why would anybody vote for Clinton. The classic crony, politics as usual say what they wanna hear liar! (and felon). Perfect example? Her very positive commenatary about Nancy Reagens work with AIDS or AIDS related. Then before the day was over appoligizing for having made such comments to placate those in the gay/aids/whatever community who sounded the alarm of being offended. Clinton? No problem....we did not mean what we just said about Reagen....so sorry please forgive me and don't forget to vote for me. Disgusting display of two faced, unethical, untrustworthy liar. A very small example of why some dems will not vote for her. Doesn't matter they have a D after their name. They do have human values that are more important than party. |

Hillary has promised to put thousands of coal miners out of work and close the coal mines. She said it, not me.
Hillary’s vow to kill coal miners’ jobs finishes a vast Democratic betrayal | New York Post “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business,” Clinton said Sunday night while boasting about her clean energy program — and with a big smile on her face. |

Bernie made a complete fool of himself, making a lewd comment about one of the women where he was giving a speech. Not a surprise for one that wrote porno in the '70s.

Was it Rosie O'Donnell, Meghan Kelly or Carlie Fiorino because they usually defend themselves? There the only ones I could find that have been treated that way.

I have no idea why other folks vote for Trump. In all appearances, the theme to the large voter turn out for Trump seems to be that they are fed up with the current administration, and Hillary has promised to stay on his course. Trump is promising a real change from the current failed policies.
Now, as far as I am concerned I did not vote for him in the primary. I voted against him. BUT, if he gets the nomination he will get my vote in the primary. Why? Because I find it extremely important that neither Hillary or Sanders gets elected. I would vote for any of the original 17 candidates if it meant keeping Hillary or Sanders from winning. This country is hurting enough as it is. More of the same will do it more damage. So, if Trump gets the nomination he gets my vote. If Cruz gets the nomination, he gets my vote. As bad as both are, they are so much better than a Socialist or a criminal that has no respect for national security, hates the military and cheats on her taxes. |

You responded to the question.
I thought reading the article was part of the assignment and I responded to the article. I'll try again. Why people vote for Trump?. I think people vote for Trump because he is different. The others prepare speeches based on research and thought. Trump seems to shoot from the hip with no filters. I don't find that refreshing. I want a leader who thinks before they speak. One study indicated he lies once every five minutes. I want someone that doesn't boast they have the greatest memory in the world, someone who doesn't boast they never forgive someone who doesn't boast they never make mistakes. I've never met anyone like that before and neither has anyone else. If you buy into it because it's something different it just doesn't make sense to me. Trump can't be bought because he is worth $10 billion dollars. That's different too. Bernie can't be bought because of principals but that's off topic. A woman called Cruz a pussy. Trump repeated it and then said remember I didn't say that. How childlike. McCain passed his wireless microphone to one woman who said, "I can't trust Obama. I have read about him and he's not, he's not uh — he's an Arab. He's not — " before McCain retook the microphone and replied: "No, ma'am. He's a decent family man [and] citizen that I just happen to have disagreements with on fundamental issues and that's what this campaign's all about. He's not [an Arab]." I don't think Trump is a decent man. I don't trust him. Trump says he's not PC. Yet he took way too long to let his view on the KKK be revealed. I think he wanted to make sure it wasn't going to cost him votes. McCains is a decent man that did the most politically incorrect thing you could do. He was instantly honest about respecting his opponent never caring about votes. |
