I looked at the weather in TV. 105, with a Heat Index of 126?

I've played golf (18 holes walking) with a heat index of 103/104 ... but 126?

Did people actually go outside today?
Not at our house (Lake Sumter area) for sure ! It was about 92, worked in the yard a good part of the day, and certainly hotter than any summer I remember for many years (Florida native) but 105, no way. High tomorrow is predicted to be 84, 72 tomorrow night, more typical. 105 ? 126? sure you Alexia wasn't telling you about Arizona ? LOL !

Maybe the misguided climate change advocates hacked Alexa?

No different than last summer when ABC news showed a segment claiming the WATER temperature off the Florida Keys was 105!!!!!! I wonder if there was a single idiot out there that believed that, but then I realized that there are millions of idiots who buy into this garbage. If the temperature in the Gulf of Mexico with trillions of gallons and 2-mile depth in spots could climb to 105, why wouldn't the pools in TV be boiling. Where were all the dead fish???? Meanwhile, they had a reporter standing right on the beach----why not show him putting a thermometer in the water and show the world the "105 temp". Yep, we all know why. With $168 trillion proposed to fight "climate change", I wouldn't put anything past those that stand to gain.

I think if the water gets to 145, those fish would be safe to eat!

I’m sure this was probably mentioned before on the countless ‘climate change’ threads...but I probably missed it......when did ‘Real Feel’ which is trademarked, come onto the scene? Just give me the damn actuals and i’ll make up my own mind as to what it feels like!

Don’t believe everything you hear. They want you to think the sky is falling everyday. If I listened to them, I would never go outside, lol.

Played 9 holes (Champ course) @ 1700 with three others including an 84 year old who wanted to continue. Hot? Yes. Unbearable? Nada. Proper hydration is key!

It is like the cold up north. Nowadays it is a big deal with ultra-cold temps seemingly leading every newscast, but back in the day we'd check the thermometer in the mornings: if it was -20 or so it was "cold" and anything below that didn't matter. It was just more of the same. Some mornings it was below -40. How much below we didn't know because mercury freezes and breaks the thermometer at that temperature.

People obsess about things like that and media merely feeds the frenzy. Cold--hot--take sensible precautions and don't let it control your life.
You are right. When the temperature gets below/above a certain point, it really doesn't matter. For me it was about 10 below (in Minnesota). If my car would start and there wasn't too much of a danger of black ice then it was business as usual. I hope to never have to live in that again. I'll take the heat any day of the week.

"Real Feel" was developed by AccuWeather as a tool to better report what the temp feels like under different conditions across the temperature scale over 20 years ago. It is indeed trademarked by them, the developers.

https://www.accuweather.com/en/weath...r-realfeel/784

Interesting, the 'wind chill' index years ago (early 1940's) was noted to have an error in the calculations (or a result of how it was developed) not found for many years and was overestimating the 'chill'. This apparently lead to the plethora of other representations for what the temperature feels like.

Wind Chill Chart.

I trust the 'Real Feel' more then the others for what that is worth over the temperature scale.

I saw a short clip from WESH2 News yesterday (8th) that showed the “feels like” temp for The villages at 118, which was the highest temp shown on their Central FL map. At the time my Apple Watch was showing the temp here where I live south of 44 to be 91. Crazy that their weather map wasn’t showing the actual true temp. We laughed at the 118 because it felt nowhere near that to us.

You may want to change your weather app - it was 95 with an HI of 105 on Sunday.
