Nobody knows what a dog wants or doesn't want better than its owner. So unless you see somebody doing something against the law or totally injurious to the dog, please don't tell us dog owners where we should or shouldn't be taking our dogs, or what they want or don't want.

One day at DDRR a young boy was playing with out golden in the "back 40." Now I know my golden. His best friend is whoever's holding the tennis ball. When the little boy left, my dog ran over to the gate to the "front 40." The woman I was with kept telling me my dog was concerned because I wasn't there. I said No, he's concerned because the little boy isn't there. He's looking for him, not me. She persisted. I called my dog; he turned around and looked at me. And went back to looking for the little boy.

Dog owners know their dogs.

Dog owners know their dogs.
And almost always, dog owners want only the best for their dogs.

Veronica, please don't be frightened. Not everyone here is so obsessed with trivial matters... most of us with and without dogs are just friendly, reasonable people, Welcome!

The probability of that is negligible.

Let's not get paranoid about inconsequencial things.

Some of the diseases that can be spread from pet waste are:
Campylobacteriosis- a bacterial infection that causes diarrhea in humans.
Salmonellosis- the most common bacterial infection transmitted to humans from animals.
Toxocarisis- roundworms transmitted from animals to humans.

Since you never see dog poop in the squares, and TV's dogs are extremely well "vetted" and cared-for, I believe this statement is faulty and inflammatory.
Yes, I reiterate -- inconsequential. You need to take your own advice, as you state in all your posts: "Don't take life Too Serious (sic) ..It isn't permanent ."

Thank you CFrance and Zonerboy for your followup.

How do we go from a simple request for Dog Park information to warnings about the dangers of touching pet waste?

Veronica, there are three free dog parks provided by The Villages, and information has been provided on those parks. They are small, but golf-cart accessible.

There is a ten-acre private dog park on CR 101 called Doggie Doo Run Run which is wonderful and well maintained (north/west quadrant of TV).
It costs $3 per visit or $25 per month for unlimited visits. We pay $30 per month for our two dogs. They love it there, most dogs do.
There is a part for small dogs and another for dogs over 30 lbs. And another five-acre fenced area with hanging swings; I find it so relaxing there.
We visit DDRR at least once a day so our dogs can romp off leash. It's a wonderful group of dog lovers and a good place to make new friends.
If you want more information and detailed instructions on how to get there, please PM me.
