This is to introduce Chase, our rescue Beagle.
We got him just before he turned four years old. He had spent that entire time living in an outdoor pen with little human contact. His owner also owned two female Beagles that he considered his favorites, so Chase was neglected. We have to believe that he was also physically abused by a man, because he is afraid of my son, but not of my daughter, both of whom he met at the same time on the day we went to get him. He immediately attached himself to me, perhaps because I am in a wheelchair and he seldom sees me standing. Throughout the day he sits on my feet when I am in my wheelchair, and backs into a corner of the room when I am in my recliner. My daughter has been taking him for walks along with her Beagle, Scout, and this week for the first time, Chase found his voice. The Beagles spotted another dog being walked, and Chase began to bay. I love the sound of a baying Beagle. Also, on the same walk, Chase spotted a squirrel in a tree and tried to climb the tree to get to him. Chase will need a lot of patience to get him to trust my son, and to become more socialized. We are working on it.

Kudos to you for adopting Chase. Keep posting on TOTV about Chase. I love reading posts of people who rescue animals from neglectful and abusive situations.

I have met various beagles at Doggie Doo Run Run. Two of these were owned by a Wildwood area cop and his wife. Another by a former sailor. All these dogs have quite the personalities.

The best dog we ever had was a rescue. She's been gone over 6 years now and I still miss her. Chase was lucky to find such a loving, patient family. Wishing you all the best with your new addition.

The best thing about adopting/rescuing is not only the fact that you saved a dog -- Chase in this case,
but the fact that both of you are smiling! A new chapter in your life is just beginning. Enjoy and best wishes.

There should be a special place in heaven for people who rescue animals.
![]() ![]() I loved the news yesterday that a Boynton Beach Police Officer broke a car window out to rescue a dog. He then went store to store to find the owner and gave them a citation. ![]()

Our dog Abby is a rescue, and we could not have asked for a better pet. One day, I returned from chorus rehearsal and my husband told me he had taught Abby a new trick. He tapped the sofa, and she jumped right up. I said, oh, that must have been difficult to teach! |

Don't know if Chase was abused by a man or not, very probably was. However, my 14 year old cat, Callie, doesn't like men either, and she was never abused. She will come out and mill around when I have female friends over, but if there is a man in the mix she doesn't come out from under the bed. My brother was here for ten days and she literally lived under the bed if he was around. Doesn't mean anything, just thought it was interesting. Thank you for rescuing Chase.
