The trick is getting rescue agencies to check a cat for a chip. When I rescued "Disco" it was like pulling teeth to make those employees get out the scanner and check for a chip. I guess since many people don't microchip cats, many are not even checked.

Any luck? I have some friends on Beechwood and adjoining streets and will ask them to be on the lookout for Casey if he hasn't come home before you leave.

I have two escape kitties. One stayed out for 4 days and I was heartsick thinking I'd never see her again -- she's a little thing and I was afraid a coyote had found her. I left the garage door open a crack and she came back in the middle of the night as if nothing had happened except she was a mess! At least Casey is a big boy, so the local animals should leave him alone.

Please keep us posted. We're all wishing the best.

Casey is about 8 years old....not sick...very healthy neutered male. Likes to eat alot. Very affectionate. We just came home from Toojays and when we pulled into the driveway, we noticed a black cat in our screened porch eating the food I had left out. I had left the screened porch door opened, hoping he would return and eat the food. When we saw the cat, we tried to quickly close the door, but the cat ran out. Actually, we don't think it was Casey, but a neighborhood cat. Close, but not close enough!

Hi macro....thanks for the hints. Casey does have a chip, but someone has to scan it and then call me. He also had a collar with our address here in the Villages. Since this is our vacation home and we are only here 3 or 4 months, I don't have a photo of him here. I have one at our home in California and when I return on Thursday, I can post it. He is an 18 pounds healthy neutered black cat with a few white stray hairs. Has yellow eyes. Very loving and affectionate. Thanks for your offer of help, I really appreciate it. Everyone has been so helpful. I've have a lost cat sign in front of my house, and a half dozen people have knocked on my door and given me information of where they have seen a cat....but it turns out not my cat. Not too many year round residents in this neighborhood, but I have talked to the few that are here.

Hi Redwitch,
No luck yet. A cat entered my screened in porch this evening and ate some food I had left out, but it was a neighborhood cat. Close, but not close enough. I'm still hoping. Thanks for your concern....Dale

About 15 years ago someone lost an orange cat in our neighborhood in California. Turns out they were cat sitting it for their rich elderly maiden aunt who had no other relatives or pets. They put up posters with a $100 reward for the cat; a few days went by and the reward was up to $500; a few more days up to $1,000 and then $5,000. The whole neighborhood was searching and all the local orange cats were being chased like crazy.

They finally found the cat - in a garage two doors down; don't know about the reward tho.

Default lost cat

Hi,
We think we saw a black cat tonite when we came home. He took off when we pulled up with our golf car. We are at 916 Silver oak...he was heading towards Weeping Willow Street. If we see him again I will certainly let you know. I did put some cat food out on my drive way for him, just encase he is hungry.
We are big cat lovers...sure hope Casey finds his way home soon

I am so very, very happy for you. Cats are such independent critters but we love them to death anyway. Let's hope he never gets out again.

Thumbs up Big Relief!!!!!!

SO GLAD for you! Will certainly make it bearable for you to go back to CA now. Maybe will get a chance to meet you and Casey when you get back. Have a safe trip.
