I have a friend that is trying to rescue a feral cat. The cat is living under a building that is about to be torn down. This cat is scared of a live trap and my friend doesn't know of any other way to catch it. PLEASE HELP. If you are willing to private message me your phone number or email then I will forward it to my friend. If not then please reply to my post. Thank you!!!

Curious of what your friend will do with the feral cat once caught. The chances of it becoming a house pet are almost nil. A no kill shelter is an option, but I doubt the cat wants to spend the rest of its life in a cage.
There are some good options such as the program in this video: https://youtu.be/0yEaVFwcHUo |

Who says? We have rescued feral cats and although it takes a long time, they have all become loving pets and found homes. We have one now. She is shy and reticent but very loving. She hides when strangers come in but that's nota big problem. She took six months, the last one eight months but we travelled much more so it was difficult for him with all the car trips. Expect them to hide for the first month but they will sneak out at night to eat and all ours immediately used a litterbox. I think having another cat in the house helped train them. We've had cats all our lives so we have no fear or hesitation around them and I believe they sense both that and our goodwill towards them. |

All of our cats were rescues, and everything himandme said is true. The one we have now, precious, is the most loving and trusting cat you have ever seen. She will lay no her back and let a stranger pet her stomach.

Here is an interesting article that clarifies the differences between a stray cat and a feral cat.

Thank you Chi-Town for sharing the article on the differences between feral and stray cats. Most of the information in the article is true but I have found that you can't put all ferals that you encounter in the same category. My children told me several years ago "you can't save all of the feral cats". I told them that I could at least save one. Maybe the feral cat that is living under the building can be socialized. At the very least it can be trapped, neutered and hopefully cared for. I care for two feral cats that have been neutered and vaccinnated. They have shelter, enjoy two meals a day, fresh water, catnip and love to play with toys. Although they don't want to be touched, they come out to see me every day.

My cat is 15 years old now and was a feral when caught and brought to me. It did take a long time for her to become as tame as the other cats I had at the time, but she did. She was never aggressive toward the other cats or any person. She is now the last one left and happy as can be.
