Default Reddish stain on white poodles face and paws

What could be causing reddish stain on a white poodles face and paws? How can this be cleaned and remedied? My friend talked to the vet but can't seem to get it under control.

Caused by tears and saliva....gets onto paws when he licks them. Which dog food food does he eat? Sometimes changing to a food without artificial coloring helps.

Simple health concerns are often the major cause of excess tearing. Some of these are natural such as puppies or kittens cutting their first teeth, and again when they cut their permanent teeth. Dogs or cats of any age with teeth or gum problems are likely to have extra tear staining. Ear mites and ear infections, or any health problem - especially those in the head, neck, and chest areas - may also contribute to tear staining. Allergies to certain dyes or ingredients in food could cause excessive tearing. When the facial hair is wet from excess tearing it is the breeding ground for bacteria and yeast. One of the most common yeast infections is Ptyrosporin or Red Yeast which causes a deep reddish-brown stain. Low grade bacterial infections in the tear ducts are also common and may cause excess tearing and staining.

I know my friend uses Angel Eyes. Her dog is well taken care of - regular vet visits, teeth etc. She has not changed her food or anything like that. The staining has appeared around the mouth and chin - my thought coming from the saliva - but what in the saliva. The vet had her try claritin or benedryl for allergies.

Barney is having the same issue. According to vet, it is caused by an enzyme in his saliva. He eats Blue Buffalo dog food and we are very careful about the ingredients in his treats - staying away from anything with beets, etc. We started using Angel Eyes about a month ago and can already see the results. He does not have a problem with his eyes, however - just his beard and paws (where he licks most frequently). He will be groomed in 2 weeks, so we can better assess the results. Good luck!

My Gracie has the same problem lately. Could it be the water, we have not changed food? I have had success wiping the areas with Peroxide. I am very careful not to get it in her eyes though.

our neighbor has apricot/white Dog---had discoloration around muzzle--someone told them it could be the water. They switched her to bottled water and it improved.

My both dogs had it, untill I changed their diet. I feed them organic raw food [ Hare-Today ] I buy it at Paws for a Moment in the plaza in back of CVS on 101 I mix the meat with raw organic vegetables and they no longer have it. totaly gone. Of course it took a while for the fur to grow out. So my thoughts are it is what ever is in the commercial canned and dry food.
