I have to disagree with you about Massey for termite control. Their main competition is Dean's, who won't even sell you a multi-year termite contract. Massey will sell you a 10-year contract.

I just bought a 2025 used Hyundai Palisades from the Jenkins Volkswagen dealer in Leesburg. They were great, great customer service and gave me a good price. I was very happy with them.

We had trouble with Tire Choice located at Colony and we will never go back to them again.

Not too long age I had all 4 tires replaced by Mavis Tires & Brakes in Wildwood on Sundance Trail and they did a good job.

Why anyone would go to one of these discount stores to begin with is beyond me.

Like safety check see if any problems creeping up, annual stuff like oil change/filters, and periodic stuff based on thousands miles tire rotation and inspection valve lash clearance checked fluid changes like antifreeze, brake fluid, axle grease, power steering fluid ext… even some of those not required under normal conditions. I find Walmart, Sam’s club, and now Costco tires are about same price as online without hassle.
My 2019 Buick Encore (Turbo 1.4 liter) required new plugs at 60,000 miles per the owners manual. I knew that anyone that would do it would want to replace all of the ignition coils as well, and it would end up costing me $500+, regardless of them not having issues.

So I watched a YouTube video that showed how to pull the cover off, remove the ignition coils, pull the plugs, and then install/reassemble everything.

Cost of plugs - $11.00

New plug socket to remove/install the plugs - $8.00 - Unfortunately, the two 30 year old sockets I had wouldn't work. They were fine on my old Nova...

So for about an hour of my time, I saved $480.

For tires? BJ, Sam's, Costco. Best price, free rotation/balancing. Hard to beat that.

So true. I wonder how many people know that the air we breathe contains about 78% nitrogen. That last 22% (assuming you could actually fill a tire to 100% nitrogen) must be pure magic.

Tires Choice in Colony tried to scam me on a brake job. Got a 2nd opinion and mechanic told me I had 60% wear left and rotors were perfect. A year later I had the Subaru dealership in Leesburg change my oil, brakes were still OK. I'm ticked off because I really wanted a shop close by to handle my car needs. Sometimes as a Villager, I think there is a big target on my back.

I went to that Mavis for a new battery. They wanted to replace my alternator. I told them no. Went to another place I trust and had them test, alternator was okay and did not need changing. No matter where you go to have your car fixed it is buyer beware. I do not trust any of them!

My chuckle for the day:
"The same reason why you see Frank Gay trucks criss-crossing the Villages all day long."

Yeah ! The only local biz I will not do biz with again -- so far.
Shake my head every time I hear their obnoxious commercials on WVGL. Gettin' beyond old.

If anyone is looking for an excellent auto repair shop try Hilton Automotive on 441 about 1/2 block north of 42. Great mechanics and the owners are good to work with. I've been going there for at least 15 years or more.

Agree. But I willing to bet you’re saving was lot more than $480. If had dealer do it?

Required or recommended? If it not broke I don’t touch it. Especially spark plugs in aluminum heads. But, that’s me.

Default My Most Reliable Tire Suggest

I always buy my tires at Sam’s Club and get a lifetime rotation and balance with them. That allows me to get tire service at any Sam’s Club. I always buy Michelin tires and monitor them for wear. Mine have a 60,000 mile warranty. Never a problem. For what it’s worth.
